...The Castle at Rocca San Vincenzo, a village erected between the tenth and the eleventh century on Counts della Gherardesca's initiative, is located amidst the mounts in the Campiglia territory, on the slopes of Monte Calvi (646 metres a.s.l.), hidden from sight by Monte Rombolo ridge to the north, by Maurienti to the west and by Poggio all'Aione to the south. On these heights, that look like real mountains, spots of vegetation alternate to outcrops of white and grey limestone and old mine dumps. The production activity that characterized the economy of the castle consisted in silver-bearing lead and copper mining for the production of metals to be used in the mint of Pisa. Advantages: The problem got sorted out eventually (By American airways!)
Disadvantages: Attitude of BA operatives, problems delivering lost luggage.

...This review is on a very specific point relating to lost luggate and British Airways. On a recent trip, I was returning from South America to London via Dallas USA. The San Jose-Dallas trip was an American Airways partner flight of BA. Unfortunately, the check-in girl at San Jose did not manage to book me through all the way from San Jose to London Gatwick, thus resulting in me being stranded in Dallas for about 8 hours (missing my connecting flight) whilst American Airways sorted things out. American Airways admitted that what had happened was their fault and tried to liaise with BA about putting me on another flight to London Gatwick. Unfortunately,my luggage had gone totally missing. Advantages: It's gorgeous!
Disadvantages: A bit unclean

...that was restored a few years ago. It offers various, interesting and fun productions, from Brazilian music and culture festivals to collaborations with Stefano Benni and Daniel Pennac, lessons by Baricco and acrobatic dance performances. Nights out: The Carlo Felice Theatre is the place to go to hear opera and classical music concerts as well as high quality jazz. There are also various places in Genoa that offer live music. The recently opened DLF, offers an intense, ambitious programme which is open to international music trends with a strong emphasis on sounds from the London club scene. It has a capacity for 1,300 people and is one of the best places to hear live music in the city. The programme is developed by the same people who organise the only popular music festival in the region. It is called Goa-Boa and takes place every July... Read review
