This review is about my time at the magnificent and luxury hotel the Burj Al Arab. I was lucky enough to spend two nights at this hotel during New Years Eve and New Years day 2008/2009. I had a friend who?s dad did a tone of import export business and thus I even managed to stay their for free, yes that?s right for free, under the condition that I paid for all my own food, and drink, which I was more than happy to at the time.
Now everyone has either heard about this hotel, been their or at least seen the pictures of what it looks like, and let me tell you its even more breathtaking in real life. This review will hopefully give you an insight into the hotel, information regarding all the rooms in particular the one I stayed in, what the facilities are like, what the food and bar is like as well as the service provided by the hotel ...
Advantages: Known by few other than locals. Disadvantages: I am telling you.
We have travelled to Venice every year in or around the end of March for the past 7 years and each time we go we are amazed that we find something new to see visit or experience each time.
This year we came across the Al Marca bar.
Catch the vaporetti along the Grand Canal and get off at the Mercato di Rialto stop. You could get off at the Rialto Bridge stop and walk over the bridge and into the square but the Mercato stop leads you directly into the square.
Any time during the day there are people at the bar milling about with a coffee, la umbro, (a small wine) or a beer. As it is next to the Court of Justice it is busy, busy, busy but take time out of your day to sit on the bench and soak up Venice watch the Venetian's going about their business away from St. Mark's and the bustle of the day trippers.

I have just got back from a lovely weekend city break to Venice. I booked the holiday a week ago as a last minute deal as the flights to venice were only 99p on ryanair. We decided to book this hotel as we just came across it searching on the web. After we booked it we found a few pictures of the hotel and it looked like a lovely venetian style hotel with lots of character. However i looked at a few reviews on other website and they were not so good. People were saying the breakfast was cold, the rooms were scruffy and the staff were rude etc. So i had low expectations when i arrived there, but i was pleasantly surprised.
First the location is brilliant. We got a bus from Treviso airport to venice itself and its like a 3-5 minute walk from there so we didn't look that daft going over a load of canal bridges with lots ...
