Advantages: very helpful staff Disadvantages: 20 minutes to downtown
...YEG is located south-west of the city of Edmonton, approx. 20 minutes form the downtown core. Arrivals are on the second floor, and luggage pick up is on the main floor(arriving from Toronto). Pay telephones are near the luggage pick up. Staff were very attentive to my needs. There are several levels of parking less than 50 feet away. An international airport, flights can connect to nearly any major port worldwide. Signs are clearly marked, it is quite difficult to get lost. The taxi fares are decent, perhaps $30 canadian, but shuttles are also available at lower cost. Because I was in quite the hurry, I did not have the time to search for restaurants or cafes in the airport. If you find this at all helpful, please feel free to let me know. Thank you....

Advantages: Very Clean, Great Shopping, Very Friendly Disadvantages: Isolated
...I visited Edmonton several years ago to attend my brother in laws wedding. The imediate thing that struck me, apart from the sky scrapers was how clean it was, you would be hard pressed to find any litter or dogs mess. Whilst this city is very high tech it also has some very interesting older parts which date back to its early pioneer days, Fort Wilderness just outside Edmonton shows how the early folk lived. If you like shopping you'll love the West Edmonton Mall, its the largest shopping Mall in the world (its about the size of an average UK town and includes a fun fare, a zoo, an ice rink and an amazing food hall wher you can sample cuisene from almost anywhere in the world. If you are visiting Canada and get a chance then check it out. The locals are very friendly and seam to take a genuine interest in anyone from the old country...
