I have stayed at this hotel 3 times now and apart from the renovation going on I cannot fault it. Rooms...amazing, buffet...amazing, location...amazing, staff...amazing! The shops within the casino are good (but no the best casino shops on the strip) and it is very convenient staying above such a large amount of shops. If this hotel was anywhere but Vegas I would not leave the hotel as there really is no need. But hey this IS Vegas so there is loads to do, The Aladdin is opposite the Bellagio, and we have fountain views the last time we stayed which was pretty amazing! The casino floor is full of all types of machines and is a great place to spend a few Cent (or more)!
The renovation going on is to transform the casino from the Aladdin to a Planet Hollywood resort only slightly hinders the guests and some of the lifts etc are closed so you have to walk the long way round, but I believe that it will make the casino even better! The pools are adequate and have entertainment in the summer months, however I have seen the pools in other hotels and the Aladdin's is a bit boring compared to the rest. But there is always somewhere in the sun!
If you go to Vegas (and stay at ANY hotel) then you HAVE to go to the Aladdin buffet. It wins awards year in, year out and caters for everyone. There is everything from a traditional roast through to Sushi and Greek Kebabs! And there is even candyfloss for dessert!
(If you travel with kids then I would recommend the Excalibur!)
Overall this hotel is a great place to stay and I would recommend it to everyone!

Advantages: The BEST buffet in town, location (opposite the Bellagio fountains), great views from the rooms which over look the strip, great shows take place on site. Disadvantages: Cold pools compared to heat (some may like this?!)
Advantages: Cheap, huge rooms, quality facilities, friendly staff, indoor rainstorms and quality shopping Disadvantages: It's 5,000 miles away from where I live :o(
