Alagoa Mar, Albufeira

Advantages: Excellent Location, Clean, Good Food
Disadvantages: No fridges in rooms

...This is my third time staying in Albufeira (March 2007). I have previously stayed at the Paraisio and Brisa Sol which are also four star hotels next door to the Vale Gale Cerra Alagoa. Out of all three hotels this is my first choice, followed by the paraisio. The staff in the hotel speak good english and service was very efficient. I was also give an upgrade to my room. I was put on 2nd floor and got moved to the 3rd floor in a newer room. (the hotel are in the process of modernising all the rooms, so I would recommend you try to get one with at least the number 42 at the end i.e. 142,242,342,44) The hotel operate on a key card system as opposed to having to carry keys around. Disadvantages: no air-con in apartments!

...we visited riu falesia mar apartments in July 2005, which are located in Olhos d'Agua just outside Albufeira (8km from Albufeira, 8km from Vilamoura). The apartments are clean and comfortable, with one bedroom and 2 sofa beds in the lounge area which suited the kids.We had a small kitchen with fridge (a godsend!), and a hob.We had a balcony with a seaview.No lifts in the blocks which are 3 storeys high, so a bit difficult with the suitcases, tho we did get fit walking up & down each day as our room was at the top of the apartment block!We took the half board option and had breakfast and dinner on resort.The dinner was at a set time of either 6.30pm, OR 8.30pm which was a bit restrictive.The apartments were cleaned and tidied each day and beds made up etc.The only disadvantage was that there was no AC in the apartment, but this could... ...I like to write my reviews in a bit of a story-teller fashion, and so setting the scene is a vital aspect of the review. 23 of us departed Thursday night/Friday afternoon to Albufeira in Portugal for Jimbo's stag do. Jimbo is a 30-something dentist with a highly successful practice in Leeds, opening quick bowler for Old Leo's and all round top egg. He is getting married in January to his long time wonderful girlfriend Claire and this was the away leg of his stag do. The party was made up of a total mix of people, from Students to Dentists, and all thoughts pointed firmly at Golfing and Drinking. Not necessarily in that order either.
