Advantages: Still Innocent - hardly any english Disadvantages: The portuguese are not very friendly
...Monte Gordo - The Algarve. Ten years ago I chose the hotel Eurotel Altura in Altura/Tavira with the family. This year I took my one remaining teenager and husband back to the Eurotel, which had grown but hardly changed. From Monte Gorda it's a short bus ride or 'road train' to Villa Real de Santo Antonio, where you can hop on the ferry across to Spain. No problem with currency - they willingly take Escudos in Ayamante. Advantages: Close to airport, lots of amenities Disadvantages: Gets very busy during high season
...I never thought I would be the kind of person who would go to the same place on holiday year after year, far too boring!! Until the year we went to Praia da Oura for our holidays. We stayed in excellent apartments - Club Praia da Oura. They were clean and spacious with everything we needed for a fortnight. We went on holiday in early June so the weather was perfect . The Portugese people couldn't be any nicer or more welcoming. They love kids which is great considering we had a baby with us. The 'strip' is a long road of shops, restaurants & bars and is only a 5 minute walk from the apartments. Senhor Frog's is good for pizza & the pancakes at Costa Rica are to die for!. I just can't recommend this place highly enough!!!...

Advantages: We survived Dona Margarita's house Disadvantages: We had to mop the floor at Margarita's house

Do not ask us how she succeeded in doing this, but she had the 3 of us mopping the floor in our room due to the fact that the housemaid of the house had decided to take a holiday ahead of the Carnival period! I do not remember where Dona Margarita’s house is, but it is North of the town. It was indicated to us by fellow travellers we had met earlier....
