My strange night in Glasgow

Advantages: Reasonably priced, good location, breakfast ok
Disadvantages: The staff, lack of digital TV

~~~Intro~~~ Back in August everything was going fantastically, I'd been on a great barge holiday with friends, work was bearable, things with hubby good, and my self-injury charity work going amazingly. I became aware of a self-harm conference in Glasgow on 18th October, and thought that it would be a great networking opportunity. After booking a place. I spent some time while bored at work searching on the Internet for a reasonably priced hotel in Glasgow within walking distance of the train station and the conference venue. There was quite a selection, but it seemed that the Merchant Lodge hotel would suit me nicely in terms of location and cost (£50 B&B). A couple of weeks prior to the event, disaster struck in our charity (perhaps a year down the line when everything is sorted I will review what can go wrong in small ...
Review of The Merchant Lodge, Glasgow
Great view over Glasgow.
Advantages: Clean and comfortable.
Disadvantages: Incorrect bookings.
, but the reception staff insisted that I had to pay for them and they needed to make a pre-payment authorisation on my credit card. Even though the total cost of the rooms was £184 they insisted that the authorisation should be for £280 in case we charged anything to our rooms. In total the whole checking-in process was not satisfactory and I have written to Premier Lodge about this. The staff at the hotel were very polite and apologetic about the confusion and booked us another room. The hotel staff explained that this was not the first time that a booking made through the central reservations system had not been correctly recorded. The rooms were very pleasant and had a terrific view over Glasgow from the 11th floor. However, there was not a lot of storage space, but it was just adequate. All of the beds are three foot wide (put ...
Review of Phoenix Lodge, Glasgow
THE PHOENIX LODGE UDDINGSTON
Advantages: LOCALITY TO EXCELLENT TRANSPORT NETWORK FRIENDLY STAFF
Disadvantages: NOT A FIVE STAR HOTEL BUT THEN NEITHER ARE THE PRICES !
PHOENIX LODGE 4 GIRDONS WAY UDDINGSTON G71 7ED TELEPHONE 01698 815296 This guest house is right next to Uddingston train station with good links to Glasgow & Edinburgh, its also right next to M74/M73 Junction 4 with good motorway links for Glasgow/Edinburgh M8, Stirling and the North via M73 A80 or Carlisle and the South via M74. There`s single,double & family rooms 8 in all with good off street parking, its surprisingly quiet considering its locality to railway - motorway network, on the very edge of the small town of Uddingston which has many shops-pubs- restaurants ect, but the best thing about this place is the friendly staff and the family atmosphere which prevails making you feel at home. Overall a good stopping off point if you are making a long journey,visiting glasgow or have other business in the area ...
