Albany Lions Eastbourne Hotel

Advantages: Location, clean and good value fo money
Disadvantages: caters more for an older clientel

Stayed to this hotel for weekend during the summr. I booked it on the internet. It was a last minute decision. I found the hotel had all the facilities I required. The room was small but clean and conforable. The decor was ok. The room had tea/coffee making facilities. A clean shower, plenty of towels. The TV was abit basic but you could watch all the basic channels. The restaurant was open and inviting. The food good if a little basic. The bar area was fine and the bar snacks ok. I found the place had entertainment a singer but I returned back too late to hear him. When I went it was a quiet weekend I think as everyone seemed to have gone to bed by 11:00pm. I did nottice at breakfast this hotel semed very popular with an elder clientel. Breakfast was a help yourself affair. The staff were all very helpful and accomodating ...

Howard Johnson Inn, Albany

Advantages: easy to get to, on main hotel/recreation strip into the city
Disadvantages: dated, noisy

My wife and I stayed here for 1 night in early September 2006. The place is easy to find, on the busy main hotel/motel/restaurant strip on the outskirts of the city. The hotel has the appearance and feel of a motel from the moment you drive in, from the reception area to the rooms. there is plenty of parking and we found no problems getting our car right outside our room. Our room was on the ground floor at the rear of the premises. the room was clean (ish), and had the usual facilities, of TV, iron/board, hairdryer, coffee maker etc, however everything looked a bit old and tired. I was concerned about security, as the doors and locks did not appear too substantial, and being round the back of the premises with the door leading directly on to the car park, I felt a little uneasy. There may have been CCTV monitoring the car park ...

Review of Howard Johnson Inn, Albany

Durban Beach

Advantages: Clean beaches, plenty of souvenirs
Disadvantages: may be crowded on Weekends

The city of Durban boasts quite an impressive coastline with white sandy beaches fronting five star hotels and trendy apartments. Durban beach is the place to go if you are ever in the city. It has plenty of side walk restaurants and cafes which serve a variety of international cuisines. There is a mini theme park at one stretch of the beach which features a swimming pool and fun rides. All along the beach front you will find ladies in multi coloured dresses and headgear sitting on the ground selling their ware to the passing tourists. These are mainly souvenirs such as staw pictures, wooden animals, key chains, beads, ebony figurines and other popular African haandicraft. There is a also a pier at one end whci one can walsk down at least 200 metres or so into the sea and have a good view of the Durban sea front. Durban beach is usually ...
