Albergo Hotel San Gallo, Venice

Advantages: Quiet, reasonably priced and comfortable
Disadvantages: Not really near anything

...I stayed here in February and thought it was wonderful. There is a free phone at the airport which you can use to call the hotel and they come and collect your for free in their minibus. The hotel is fairly small, but it is well decorated and has good facilities including en-suite and wifi. I especially enjoyed the sauna/gym which also boasts a Physio-Therm cabinet which offers therapeutic heat to the back, light therapy and relaxing music (all included in the price). Next door (literally a few steps away) is an Italian restaurant and bar which offered really good meals at a reasonable price. Next to the restaurant is a lake with flamingos! which have been rescued by the restaurant. It was very cold when I stayed in February, but the rooms were comfy and cosy. Advantages: Great hotel, great location?
Disadvantages: Perhaps too big!

...Last year in the Sunday supplements I read about the new Hilton Hotel that had just opened in Venice and they had comments on the wonderful views and the roof terrace. As we had booked to visit Venice in March of this year, and had been several times before this was an opportunity to see another view of Venice from a different area. I had read that it is a large hotel and thinking about Venice and the size it must be out of the main Venice tourist area, we had not seen any building work on that scale the year before. The Hilton hotel is in the Giudecca area of Venice away from St. Mark's Square. We had to catch a water bus from San Zaccaria, over to Zitelle and then just wondered along until we arrived at the Hilton which is the other end of Giudecca Island. Advantages: sports facilities, clean hotel, good food, friendly staff
Disadvantages: quiet for teenagers at night, lack of beach

...Having just returned from Hotel San Luis We would like to say what a great time we had. The hotel is kept spotlessly clean especially as we went in August when it is at it's busiest. The food although a bit repetitive is excellent and there is always something you like (even when you have fussy children)! The rooms are cleaned thoroughly daily and clean bed linen and towels changed daily too. The entertainment is very good generally and the children's animation is excellent. We went all inclusive and this is well worth considering as drinks can be very expensive. Ice creams are free as well as unlimited drinks, crisps,nuts etc. Staff are very friendly and helpful and you can hire beach towels for a refundable deposit of 10 euros each.
