Albergo Terminus Hotel, Lake Como

Disadvantages: Cheap, poor quality meals

...I appreciate others may have had a great time at this hotel but my personal experience was very poor. We visited the restaurant at the Hotel Metropole and were served a square slab of pizza as if it had come from a budget frozen food store. The pizza was cold with some tinned mushrooms, ham & tomato thrown on top. When we complained about this the staff were unwilling to help. Eventually they reheated the pizza to within an inch of its life. When we refused to pay for this poor quality food, the best they could offer was a threat to call the police and abuse of my wife and I. My advice - Avoid this hotel at all costs. There are far better places on Lake Como with "Real" Italian food, served by staff who appreciate their customers.... Read review

Advantages: Quiet, reasonably priced and comfortable
Disadvantages: Not really near anything

...I stayed here in February and thought it was wonderful. There is a free phone at the airport which you can use to call the hotel and they come and collect your for free in their minibus. The hotel is fairly small, but it is well decorated and has good facilities including en-suite and wifi. I especially enjoyed the sauna/gym which also boasts a Physio-Therm cabinet which offers therapeutic heat to the back, light therapy and relaxing music (all included in the price). Next door (literally a few steps away) is an Italian restaurant and bar which offered really good meals at a reasonable price. Next to the restaurant is a lake with flamingos! which have been rescued by the restaurant. It was very cold when I stayed in February, but the rooms were comfy and cosy. ...my partner and i stayed at the terminus from the 22nd august 2006 to the 25th, we arrived very late due to flight delays from the u. k. and it was midnight before we arrived but the staff could not have been more helpfull. We even had a free room upgrade to a business suite which was a nice surprise , the room itself was clean large and very comfortable , bathroom was clean ,fresh towels daily. we had a problem with our room safe but the staff sorted it straight away within 5 mins of telling them. breakfast was the same as most amsterdam hotels tea,coffee, eggs cold meats bread,fruit and cereals but you could eat as much as you wanted and if you wanted scrambled eggs instead of the hard boiled you only had to ask the waiter and he gladlly arranged this . the location of the terminus is fab as its just behind the damrak on one side...
