If you are in central Auckland and would like to see a bit of greenery or relax with a picnic this is the perfect spot. It is literally a few minutes walk from Queen Street.
It is generally quite a busy park due to it's central location and a favourite spot for local business people and students to enjoy their lunch. It is especially popular for students as Auckland University and AUT are literally next door. Therefore in summertime you will find many students studying or hanging out here.
It is not a large park, but has a central gazebo, fountain, several paths running through and garden and grass areas. There is also a public toilet.
It is also the location of many festivals. I have been to a Chinese New Year festival a couple of years ago that was fantastic. There were many stalls selling trinkets and food. There also several areas where performances were on and information areas to learn more about the Chinese New Year.
Local radio stations also regularly hold events here in summer time.
I would avoid walking through this area at night time through, as with any park.
If you are sightseeing in Auckland for the day and would like to relax for a bit, I would recommend packing a picnic or grabbing a kebab or something takeaway from the many eateries close by and enjoying Albert Park for an hour or two.
