Middle of July but not very busy at all.Great base for holiday, but best to hire a car to explore further afield.
Advantages: Loads to do and see Disadvantages: bit pricey
On all the holidays i have been on and there has been many i allways ask myself would i go back once i am back at home ,and if i am honest the answer to most of the places i have visited with the exception of Orlando is no i would not go back i will try another destination , i would ask anybody who reads this would you go back to your last holiday desination ! even if you had a great time , would you go back ? or would you try another destination ... ...of you would try another destination.
Albuferia is one of the places i would go back to it has great beaches , good selection of food ie local dishes , pizza parlours , chinese restaraunts , seafood dishes , takaways etc etc it is also blessed with lovely beaches , shops ( not just the usual tourist shops ) but what i liked about it the most was the nightlife, lots of things to do and see not just ( as anyone with young children would bear me out ...

Advantages: good for families, cheap, not too far away Disadvantages: not for those who want something a little more upmarket
I love taking the family here. I have a small timeshare and it is a great place to go for a cheap and cheerful relaxing holiday. I always think of it as a place to go for a 7-10 day holiday but not necessarily any longer.
There are lots of good places to eat and drink around the Strip. The Strip is a sort of mini Blackpool I guess but the one thing it has over some counterparts I have been to in Europe (especially Spain) is that many of the places ... ...I found for value is Farnells. It is a small family run restaurant just off the Strip and huge T Bone steaks gor for 9 euros (or on special nights 8 euro!!) which is just over a fiver. The staff here are friendly and once you have been there once they remember your drinks order for the rest of the holiday!
Another place I like to go is the Two Brothers which is off the Strip but on the main road (same side as Rumors Bar but towards the beach). This ...

Advantages: Lovely area and surrounding gardens Disadvantages: On a steep hill with lots of steps!
...lot of egg! However in Albufeira there are so many restaurants to choose from, you are better off eating there.
The entertainment provided wasn't really our type of thing. If you like Karaoke it was on every other night!
The resort has two main swimming pools which are heated during the winter months, however 19c was not warm enough for me to dip more than my foot in! My boyfriend went in for a swim however and said the water was fine.
Overall ...

Advantages: Near all amenities. Good central Location. Disadvantages: You cannot book the sun (pity)
Flights:
The nearest airport is Faro in Portugal. BA flies there as do the main cheapos. Ryan Air flies from Stanstead whilst Easy Jet flies from Gatwick, Luton and Stanstead. The earlier the flight is booked the cheaper the cost.
Faro Airport:
A smallish airport. Quite quick once landed but not too funny when flying back, as once you're through security, the shops and eating area is quite small. Expect long and slow queues when trying to eat or drink.
Taxi's:
Are available from the airport but I dont know their cost. If you're with a tour operator they will usually supply transport. If you've booked with the hotel direct, they can arrange an air-conditioned taxi for a fee of about 30 Euro's. Travelling time to Albufeira is about 40 mins.
Albufeira:
Imagine a road about 1 mile long, with a few roundabouts dotted along ...
Advantages: Fairly quiet area, good location, family friendly, rooms in good condition Disadvantages: Quality of kitchen facilities could have been better
I visited the Algarve last summer with a few friends and stayed at Vila Alba apartments during our two-week stay. I really enjoyed my stay here and would not hesitate to return - the apartment became a large aspect of the holiday!
The location of the apartments is not in Albufeira itself, but just outside. Although the apartments are simply a 5-10 minute walk from The Strip (where there are many cafes, bars and little shops), it is a fairly quiet area, with little to no disturbance. The apartments are quite detached from one another, so this further lessens the noise levels. The apartments are around a 20 minute walk to the beach.
The rooms themselves are of very good quality. The lounge area includea a TV with several channels; some in Portugese and some English. Even the CBeebies channel was available, which is great if you ...
Advantages: Good Base Of Operations, Family Friendly, Central Location, Golf Nearby Disadvantages: English Style Pub, Bit Run-Down Decor In Bedrooms
I like to write my reviews in a bit of a story-teller fashion, and so setting the scene is a vital aspect of the review.
23 of us departed Thursday night/Friday afternoon to Albufeira in Portugal for Jimbo's stag do. Jimbo is a 30-something dentist with a highly successful practice in Leeds, opening quick bowler for Old Leo's and all round top egg. He is getting married in January to his long time wonderful girlfriend Claire and this was the away leg of his stag do. The party was made up of a total mix of people, from Students to Dentists, and all thoughts pointed firmly at Golfing and Drinking. Not necessarily in that order either.
So, onto the nitty gritty of the review.
