I went to Alcudia for my honeymoon, which I wouldn't really recommend. We found there was a limited amount to do for couples, unless you like staying on a beach or shopping for your entire holiday.

Once there we did find people very friendly and enjoyed the pubs. We were told by an english bar worker the ice cubes in bars are only ok, if the bar has a white fridge. All ice cubes/water from a white fridge is imported so is safe, he told us where ever we go look for a white fridge if the place doesn't have one don't touch the water.

All ice cubes/water from a white fridge is imported so is safe, he told us where ever we go look for a white fridge if the place doesn't have one don't touch the water.
One night we decided to try their one and only nightclub, but it was fairly expensive and played garage and hip hop all night (not really my taste). We left there and went to a music bar, which was much better.
When going to a bar I like to drink vodka & coke, but when I asked for this in Alcudia they filled my glass three quarters full of vodka, just topping up with coke.
On one of our days there we took a trip on a boat which departed off a pier from the beach, the inside part of the boat, which was down some steps, had a see-through bottom, so you could see the fish and jellyfish as we went along. The trip was lovely, once we got to where we were going the boat stopped in a private cove, people from the boat slid down the slide, which was at the back of the boat, into the water.
They have a few activities at the beach from peddle boats (with slides on the back) to banana boating. They had other boat trips too. The beach is full of sunbeds with straw parasols over them. If you take one men come round trying to sell coconuts.
On another day we were told there was a market in the town which was a 45 minute walk from our hotel (lagamonte), or a 10 minute bus journey. The bus however is always packed on market days, so we decided to walk. The town has a little more majorca culture than Alcudia resort. A wall goes around it, which we walked along. Inside the town the market was huge, it mainly sells leather goods, like handbags and belts. We also found the local supermarket here and the prices were a lot cheaper than on the resort. To one side of the town we found the local bull ring, which is free to enter when there are no events. Events mainly take place in June, July or August. We went in September.
When we went to a pub, back in Alcudia resort we got talking to a local. He was from England originally, but had moved to majorca a few years before. He told us the whole resort is basically there for the tourist. If we were to go in the winter Alcudia would be a ghost town. All the shop owners and locals stay in Palma (the capital).
The hotel we stayed in was ok. It had a lot of activities for the children. But as we had no kids with us it lacked adult entertainment. I was told the majority of the hotels are similar.
At night the whole resort smelt of sewage, especially around the small rivers that run through the middle of the resort. Probably due to the amount of hotels in a small place.
When walking along the high street, be prepared for people to try and sell things from watches to henna, pictures and hair braiding. They just come straight up to you and try and sell.
We only went for four days, but I was pleased to be going. I missed England, but I find I appriciate the colours we have here a lot more from our trees and flowers to our grass.
If I were to go again, which is very unlikely I would visit Palma the capital, as there is more to do there i.e. local museums, a little more culture, better clubs, cinemas, shops etc.
Advantages: Great location, lots to do, food is amazing Disadvantages: Some rainy days though that was just luc of the draw

'Ola. So me and herself-who-shall-be-obeyed took it upon ourselves to holiday out to the Spanish island of Majorca. Alcudia to be precise. Being as it was our first holiday together we figured one week in a fairly neutral, yet nice and sunny, location would suit us down to the ground. So with our luggage packed, our passports and boarding tickets safely within easy reach and me breaking out into cold sweats in preparation for the two ... ...We landed in Majorca's one and only airport in Palma. Lovely place from what I gathered in the late night moonshine. We were told that the coach transfer to our hotel would take approximately one hour. Not a problem really, we were off the plane and that was good enough for me. So one hour on a simple coach should be a breeze. The amazing thing that I discovered was how small the island actually is. Alcudia being at the top end and Palma being at ...

Advantages: Great beaches, assortment of restaurants Disadvantages: None
I've been going to Alcudia for 5 years now. I always go for 29th june which is the Festival of St. Peter the patron saint of fishermen. This starts with a 3 week build up of events for the locals, mainly for children. It culminates on 29th june with a parade and marching band from Alcudia old town to the small church in Alcudia port area. The whole length of the road from Alcudia old town to the port is covered in what looks like olive leaves behind ... ...the next morning. At 7-30 pm all the boats in the harbour sail out a small distance to the sea where they are all blessed by a priest and at midnight there is the best pyrotechnics display you will ever see. Then the locals all start to celebrate. Alcudia itself is spread over 3 main areas. The old town, the port area and Belle Vue which has been purpose built for tourists and very much like Blackpool or Skegness so Belle Vue is worth giving a miss. ...

Advantages: Weather, beach, entertainment Disadvantages: over pricing at beach, gets crowded peak season
Alcudia is a well known holiday destination for the british public, it is situated about 1 hours drive away from the airport on a peninsula to the north of the island of Mallorca. Alcudia itself is split into three parts, The old town where they have a market on a wednesday, the port which is quite pretty with a large number of boutiques, bars and shops, and the sea front which consists of a main street about 5 miles long set back from the sea edged ... ...and pure white sand, its about 6 or 7 miles long with sun beds and shades for hire. The shops and bars nearest the beach are over priced, walk 200yards in land and you will pay a lot less for your product. (A twister lolly 350.00 pesetas on the beach, 145.00 pesetas in land). Entertainment wise there is a lot going on as each of the hotels will have its own programe and you can just wander in and watch. If you active hire a bike cart, (4 wheels and ...

Advantages: Quiet resort, fantastic beaches, lovely old town with market Disadvantages: High kerbs are difficult for those with pushchairs
...It was easy to get to sleep - not much noise from pubs and clubs. I'd imagine it gets noisier as you get nearer the port area. So I'd highly recommend Alcudia, especially if you have young children. Young couples without children might want to go somewhere a bit busier. ...

Advantages: great hotel complex lots to do Disadvantages: street sellers
We all had a fantastic holiday at the Marte. I had read some of the reports before we went, and i thought it was gonna be butlins from hell!!! But when we arrived I had to disagree. The food was excellent, there was so much variety, yes there was pork on the menu everyday but so was chicken, beef and all types of fish. Also salads, pasta, bread, vegetables, potatoes, pizzas and a good selection of kids favorites and also so much more. The service ... ...away straight away and there was plenty of clean tables available to be seated at. The staff were fantastic they were always smiling and loved the kids. The rooms were cleaned everyday and the staff were always polite and helpful. We spent alot of time on the beach where we caught the courtesy bus from the hotel which ran every half hour there and back. We also visited the port (good for shopping) and the market in the old town. We did get a taxi ...

2 hours from Cardiff to Palma, with first choice passed by quickly thank-goodness not a flyer!
Transfer
This took approx 50 minutes.
Resort
On arrival check-in was efficient and staff polite but a little stern looking.
The hotel is outside Alcudia in Playa De Muro but the buses are regular and cheap to the strip. The hotel as a courtesy bus to the beach, which is lovely, shallow and white sand and ample sun beds and umbrellas.

On arrival check-in was efficient and staff polite but a little stern looking.
Lobby was quite spacious with ample seating and also Internet facilities, with Reps desks at the end.
Off the lobby was a large bar with satellite TV and games machines for the children to waste their money on. This is also where they held the entertainment in the evening ...
Advantages: Nice views and hot sun Disadvantages: Smelly and noisy
To be honest, after reading some of the reviews here I wanted to cancel the booking and go somewhere else. But, I thought 'why not see for myself'...
AlcudiaAlcudia is a nice place, if you like hot sun and lazing around. My partner and I wanted a relaxing holiday and that’s what we got – to the extent of boredom!
We are not real sun worshipers, and at 36 degrees it was just too hot to stay outside. Unfortunately the apartment block was not air conditioned, so we ended up having to hire a small electric fan from reception. As far as excursions go they were limited, and at between 25 and 80 Euros per person (£15 - £50) they were quite expensive.
The beach was nice and clean, but crowded – and the sand gets everywhere doesn’t it!
Shopping areas are quite extensive, but on the downside they are repetitive ...
Advantages: Building set high on wooded promontory with beautiful views Disadvantages: Half the rooms have one cell-like window
A stay at the Petit Hotel Hostatgeria La Victoria could be delightful or it could be rather a disappointment. It depends which room you get.
Beautiful setting
=
La Victoria is a small chapel up in the hills on the promontory six km east of Alcudia. The hotel, which has 12 rooms, is on two floors above the chapel. The view from the top floor facing west over the bay to Puerto Pollensa is spectacular. Unfortunately, only two of the rooms have this view.
A narrow winding road with a steep drop down to the sea takes you up to the hotel. Nervous drivers might not be comfortable with the route as you sometimes have to stop to edge past cars coming the other way and on two hairpin bends you have to change down to first gear because it?s so steep.
There are no staff at the hotel after 6pm so if you arrive after that time ...
Across the road from the beach, next to a restaurant, large pool, close to the Magaluf nightlife
There are none...unless yuo flood the bathroom, in which case you are likely to flood your whole floor because the front doors don't meet the ground a (*)
