Borghese gardens and the historical reminiscences of Valle Giulia and the Borghese Gallery, the Aldrovandi is also close to the Spanish Steps and Via Veneto. Privately managed, this grand hotel was refurbished in 2004 to render it one of the most sought-after addresses in Rome. With its own private park, outdoor pool and garden dining, the hotel is an elegant oasis of relax and guests can indulge in the amenities of a resort while staying in the centre of the city. In addition to a revamped image, the award winning cuisine of the Michelin-starred Chef Alfonso Iaccarino, directly from Don Alfonso 1890 in Sorrento, is now at 'baby', the new poolside contemporary restaurant of the hotel. Iaccarino is one of the major names on the Italian culinary scene and the world-over undisputed genius of Mediterranean tastes. Architecturally designed to complement the surroundings of exotic garden and aquatic serenity, this new restaurant features windows overlooking the park, resulting in a luminous dining space. In the evenings, guests enjoy the glowing view of the flickering lights encircling the garden and pool. The result is leisurely glamour ? an open, light and airy dining room with a soothing atmosphere. Future plans include a spa with indoor swimming pool to meet the guest?s wish for a complete relaxation. The Aldrovandi is one of 'The Leading Hotels of the World' and one deluxe property of WORLDHOTELS.
Beautifully situated on the edge of the Borghese Gardens and close to the famous Via Veneto and Spanish Steps, one of The Leading Hotels of the World, the Aldrovandi Palace is an excellent starting point to visit the wonders of Rome or to easily reach the commercial centre. This splendid palace, built at the end of the 19th century and surrounded by its own pine tree park, was once one of the most exclusive girls\\\' college in Rome. The hotel has recently been renovated, respecting its aesthetic and architectural criteria and represents today one of the most exclusive and comfortable examples of Italian tradition in hospitality.
Advantages: value for money Disadvantages: slightly far out of the city
...I stayed at this hotel for a week last summer. My friend and I were looking for a cheap, but comfortable hotel that would be a good base from which to see Rome. That's exactly what we got from the Pineta Palace.
The Pineta Palace is situated in the north west of Rome, has 200 rooms, is about 5km from the city centre, has a restaurant, an indoor bar, an outdoor bar and a business conference centre. For a one night stay, a room costs around 40 euros, but if you're staying for a week there's quite a good discount.
Getting There
The hotel is about a 25 minute taxi drive from Rome's main airport. We had pre-booked a taxi which cost about 20 euros on the way there. The taxi on the way back at the end of our holiday, however, which we booked from the hotel, ended up setting us back 50 euros, so it's definitely a good idea to book...

...A short summary
This trip report will focus on the trip that my wife Nikki and I took to Rome in the period from July 2nd - 7th 2005. We targeted out places that we wanted to see during our trip. On our list was the usual stuff such as the Vatican, Pantheon, Piazza di Spagna, Colosseum, Forum, Capitol etc. With all of this on the list there was no rest for the wicked :-) Please visit my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com to see pictures from our trip. Prelude
A couple of years back we went to Milan and Venice and we had a great time there. I guess we decided that we had to return one day to check out some other Italian cities and especially Rome. After all Rome is one of the classical destinations along with places like Paris, New York City, London etc. Our chance came when we were...

Advantages: Beautiful city.Wonderful architecture and monuments Disadvantages: So much to see and do. Expensive
..., well patronised, pizzeria, Mimi, an intimate little seafood restaurant near the Palace of Justice, Dante in Via dis Gracchi 266/268 and Grottino in Via Oslavia, 54, a smart basement eatery that is popular with the staff of the nearby radio and TV studios.
ARCHAEOLOGICAL ROME
Archaeological Rome is concentrated in one area of the city which is conveniently reached on the subway's B line and the ruins of Julius Caesar's domain are best viewed from the terrace behind Michelangelo's Piazza del Campidoglio on top of the Capitoline Hill. Top of everyone's lists is the Colosseum, the most imposing reminder of Ancient Rome. The four tiered arena could house as many as 50,000 spectators at its gladiator combats and mock sea battles. Unfortunately it was used as a quarry in the 15th century with stone and marble being removed...

My husband and I stayed in the New Winter Palace from 30th August-13th September 2006. When we first arrived we were taken to a room on the 5th floor. It was nice and clean but basic. I was a little disappointed as we were expecting a double bed but got... more
