Alexander The Great Beach Hotel, Kassandra, Halkidiki

...I went to Halkidiki this August with my cousin for a week. It ws very different to what i had expected. This is because i expected Halkidiki to be full of people who just want to go out and have a good time. However, there wasn't just those types of people, there were also couples with children, young couples, party people, old people and many more. There was literally every category of people that you can imagine. Halkidiki is an area to the north of mainland Greece. It has miles of gorgeous sandy beaches, fantastic hotels, brilliant nightclubs and much more. Halkidiki is split into three peninsulas each offering unique experiences. The first peninsula is known as kassandra, this is where most of the young people who just want to have a good time going to the many nightclubs and bars. Advantages: Gorgeous weather, fantastic people, great scenery
Disadvantages: Could perhaps do with a bit of a tidy up in places ?!

...My boyfriend and I wanted a cheap holiday - a week in the sun where we could relax and do not a lot basically! We booked an internet deal through Thompson Holidays for £190 each (incl. flights, transfers and accomodation) for a week in Self Catering appartments. Our flights were from Birmingham to Thessaloniki (which is the nearest airport to Halkidiki). The flight took around 3 hours and we then had an hour and a half transfer from the airport to our resort - Fourka. Halkidiki is split into three penisulars, Kassandra, Sithonia and Mount Athos. These are near the north of main land Greece and are surrounded by the Aegean Sea. Kassandra and Sithonia are supposed to be the livliest of the three, although they are not busy or crowded. Mount Athos is a Monks Republic and is usually only seen by people from sea. Fourka is on the west... Read review

...Can completely recommend this hotel. Couple in our 20's stayed in september 07 for 2 weeks and had the best time.The hotel facilites were great, bar and the staff fantastic,surrounding area was pretty good too. Rooms were very basic, not all of them had air conditioning although we were offered the opportunity to upgrade to better rooms. Rooms were cleaned 6 days out of 7. There wasn't a kettle or fridge in the room we had but i think they had them in the upgraded rooms. Food was excellent- good choice every day. Staff spoke excellent English as the brothers are from Australia. The evening entertainment was a bit hit and miss, most people went out so they didn;t really bother but we had a great time at the weekly barbecue having shots with the barman and dancing like fools!
