I was just looking for a room for the evening for my sister and I to stay after meeting up to attend a family gathering. This was a very last minute arrangement. The hotel looked fine on the website and I did check other websites just to be sure, but on arriving I could see straight away that it was very run down. Admittedly for the city centre it was very reasonable but it would have been possible to get a better deal, this was after all a late room booking. The hotel was described as having been refurbished and the only explanation that I can think of for my experience was that they had not completed it. The room I booked was a twin, it was on the the fourth floor and it was basic to say the least, the ensuite bathroom was grim, not a place to linger in, the tap on the wash basin was loose and there was definitely a drainage problem creating a smell that we noticed the moment we walked in the door. I complained to the reception and they agreed to move us to another room when we returned from our night out. They did this giving us the key to a room on the first floor. We had to return to the original room for our bags and the smell by this time was disgusting. The new room seemed quite palatial by comparison but in fact it too resembled nothing on the website. In the morning breakfast without the accompanying hair would have only been adequate. All in all a real disappointment I wish I had taken up the taxi driver's offer to drive me home for £50 instead!

The pictures on the website looked fine but when we arrived and got to our room it was awful the room stank of damp, the wallpaper was peeling off and there were a few holes in the walls as well as a picture of a naked woman drawn on the door. The bed was uncomfortable and the bathroom disgusting. When we went down for breakfast the next day i asked ...
