...I was fortunate enough recently to stay in Villamora, a town on the Portuguese Algarve. This is a very modern town boasting a beautiful marina as well as good food accommodation and of course golf. I stayed at the Villa Sol country club, which boasts it's own championship golf course, golf pro, driving range, swimming pools, tennis courts and private beach area. This resort is about five minutes drive from the town and has five championship golf courses within a fifteen minute drive. It is only about a twenty minute drive from the airport at Faro, and fifteen minutes from the nightlife of Albuferia....

Advantages: friendly club Disadvantages: a bit remote
...I would thoroughly recommend this golf course to anyone who is starting out playing golf. My sixteen year old son has had some golf lessons and is a regular at the driving range but has never plucked up the courage to play a game because most of the courses seem to take the game so seriously to say nothing of the expense. He and my husband (another novice) had a great game at Wells Gray - no rules about what to wear and all for about £25 including hire of clubs and a golf buggy. They lost one ball in the river and one in the lake but apart from that there were no other mishaps and a great time was had by both of them. The course is situated near the entrance to Wells Gray Provincial Park on the Clearwater Valley road....

Advantages: Really easy to take part Disadvantages: May need membership
...A friend and I went with our children to Top Golf, Watford. She's a member and we used the rest of the families membership this time.
I've never been into golf but I loved it - other reviews have gone in to all the technical bits but it is like bowling but for golf - just swipe the ball, hit it (clubs provided although mate did advise what one to use!) and there is the score on the TV behind you. What could be easier!!
Afterwards the kids went on the crazy golf (which has recently opened) whilst us Mums caught up on the gossip over a coffee.
Nearby is the dome roundabout with Asda and Sainsbury together with McDonalds and Pizza Hut - if you dont want to eat at Top Golf.
Cant wait to go again and now looking at getting lessons - Hubby would have lost his bet on this one!!
Try it....
