MRS E OXLEY Advantages: EXCELLENT HOTEL Disadvantages: LOTS OF STEPS WE HAD A WEEKS HOLIDAY AT SHORT NOTICE DUE TO THE COLAPSE OF XL.IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN TENEREFFE. NEVER BEEN TO PORTUGAL SO WE HAD RESERVASIONS. READ REVIEWS AND NOT HAPPY. WE ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE OF OUT STAY. POSITIVES. LOCATION EXCELLENT - 10 MINS TO STRIP, 25 MINS TO OLD TOWN(TAXI A FEW EURO) HOTEL CLEAN AND FRIENDLY.MAID WAS IN EVERY DAY. MEALS OKAY WHAT DO YOU WANT FOR 3 STAR. The only place to stay in the Algarve Advantages: 30 minutes from Faro Airport, great facilities, excellant golf, fantastic for the kids and grandparents Disadvantages: If you don't like sun, sea, seafood or golf don't bother going The Sheraton is a great place to stay if your family ranges in age from 8 weeks to 80 years. I have been there four times and each time it gets better and better. The facilities are fantastic and my husband loves the golfing facilities. The child care is amazing and I had no problem leaving my two boys at Porto Pirata for a few hours while I enjoyed the spa facilities. If you get bored of the many swimming pools and the golf, the beach is a short ... ...go body boarding in the sea in the middle of November! The indoor swimming pool is heated but we much preferred the outdoor ones (there are four to choose from). Compared to 5 star hotels in the UK we found the spa treatment prices to be very reasonable and the staff there are really friendly and helpful. The hotel restaurants are quite pricey but Corda Cafe, located near the golf shop and one of the swimming pools, has a great childrens menu. LTI ALFAMAR Advantages: Location Disadvantages: Too quiet for some We stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks in July 2007. We had previously spent a week here in 1997 and remembered it as a comfortable, quiet and well-positioned hotel. Our memories were correct and in the intervening years the place had been improved with a new pool, better access to the beach, as well as a general freshening up (it is probably 30 years old). We actually got a very good deal through Travel Republic so we were already feeling good about the place. This is my 1st choice hotel for Albufeira..... Advantages: Excellent Location, Clean, Good Food Disadvantages: No fridges in rooms This is my third time staying in Albufeira (March 2007). I have previously stayed at the Paraisio and Brisa Sol which are also four star hotels next door to the Vale Gale Cerra Alagoa. Out of all three hotels this is my first choice, followed by the paraisio. The staff in the hotel speak good english and service was very efficient. I was also give an upgrade to my room. I was put on 2nd floor and got moved to the 3rd floor in a newer room. (the ... ...so I would recommend you try to get one with at least the number 42 at the end i.e. 142,242,342,44) The hotel operate on a key card system as opposed to having to carry keys around. I also lost my key card and the staff did not charge me, nor seem unduly worried. The room itself was large with two twin beds pushed together, with sheets and a bedspread. It was very comfortable though and plenty of spare pillows and blankets if you got cold. the ...
