MRS E OXLEY Advantages: EXCELLENT HOTEL Disadvantages: LOTS OF STEPS WE HAD A WEEKS HOLIDAY AT SHORT NOTICE DUE TO THE COLAPSE OF XL.IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN TENEREFFE. NEVER BEEN TO PORTUGAL SO WE HAD RESERVASIONS. READ REVIEWS AND NOT HAPPY. WE ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE OF OUT STAY. POSITIVES. LOCATION EXCELLENT - 10 MINS TO STRIP, 25 MINS TO OLD TOWN(TAXI A FEW EURO) HOTEL CLEAN AND FRIENDLY.MAID WAS IN EVERY DAY. MEALS OKAY WHAT DO YOU WANT FOR 3 STAR. I WOULD HAVE EXPECTED REPETATIVE IF I HAD STAYED 14 DAYS. ENTERTAINMENT ... ...HAND, IF YOU ARE ALL INCLUSIVE LIKE US. STAFF FRIENDLY EVEN THE RECEPTION. VIEWS OUTSTANDING. Paraiso De Albuferia - algarve - portugal Advantages: Large rooms, good facilities, large pool area, clean!!! Disadvantages: Busy main road at front of hotel - crazy portuguese drivers!!! Il start with the hotel itself. its massive! it has over 500 rooms so there is always someone new to talk to by the pool! the reception area is grand, clean and spacious, and there are always plenty of friendly staff on to help you out. there are also a variety of different shops here from news agents, jewelers, clothes and alcohol shops, all at great prices. the hotel is easy to navigate around and has plenty of lifts and stairways for you to get ... ...a large outdoor pool at the back, which has varying levels of depth, so there is something for everyone from kids to divers. there are also plenty of sun loungers around the pool and loads of space to wander around. there is an outside bar and there is usually always some kind of entertainment on from kids quizzes to relaxing music. this hotel also has a large indoor pool which is heated and a gym for all you fitness freaks!! The only place to stay in the Algarve Advantages: 30 minutes from Faro Airport, great facilities, excellant golf, fantastic for the kids and grandparents Disadvantages: If you don't like sun, sea, seafood or golf don't bother going The Sheraton is a great place to stay if your family ranges in age from 8 weeks to 80 years. I have been there four times and each time it gets better and better. The facilities are fantastic and my husband loves the golfing facilities. The child care is amazing and I had no problem leaving my two boys at Porto Pirata for a few hours while I enjoyed the spa facilities. If you get bored of the many swimming pools and the golf, the beach is a short ... ...go body boarding in the sea in the middle of November! The indoor swimming pool is heated but we much preferred the outdoor ones (there are four to choose from). Compared to 5 star hotels in the UK we found the spa treatment prices to be very reasonable and the staff there are really friendly and helpful. The hotel restaurants are quite pricey but Corda Cafe, located near the golf shop and one of the swimming pools, has a great childrens menu. LTI ALFAMAR Advantages: Location Disadvantages: Too quiet for some We stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks in July 2007. We had previously spent a week here in 1997 and remembered it as a comfortable, quiet and well-positioned hotel. Our memories were correct and in the intervening years the place had been improved with a new pool, better access to the beach, as well as a general freshening up (it is probably 30 years old). On our latest visit we booked half-board, land view room. The rooms are very acceptable. Most ... ...high inside atrium which give a great feeling of openness when seated in public areas. We actually got a very good deal through Travel Republic so we were already feeling good about the place.
