MRS E OXLEY Advantages: EXCELLENT HOTEL Disadvantages: LOTS OF STEPS WE HAD A WEEKS HOLIDAY AT SHORT NOTICE DUE TO THE COLAPSE OF XL.IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN TENEREFFE. NEVER BEEN TO PORTUGAL SO WE HAD RESERVASIONS. READ REVIEWS AND NOT HAPPY. WE ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE OF OUT STAY. POSITIVES. LOCATION EXCELLENT - 10 MINS TO STRIP, 25 MINS TO OLD TOWN(TAXI A FEW EURO) HOTEL CLEAN AND FRIENDLY.MAID WAS IN EVERY DAY. MEALS OKAY WHAT DO YOU WANT FOR 3 STAR. I WOULD HAVE EXPECTED REPETATIVE IF I HAD STAYED 14 DAYS. ENTERTAINMENT ... ...HAND, IF YOU ARE ALL INCLUSIVE LIKE US. STAFF FRIENDLY EVEN THE RECEPTION. VIEWS OUTSTANDING. Club Praia d'Oura Advantages: kids,club, bar, beach, 2 pools, jacuzzis, entertainent, shops, self catering Disadvantages: have to meet with CPO staff who will want to sell you timeshare I bought a timeshare here about 20 years ago with my husband and we have been going here on and off in that time with our growing family so we've seen some changes in that time - mostly good, I have to add. One of the most significant changes is the addition of properties to the complex giving flexible accommodation visitors. This means that depending on your profile you will either be allocated the beach front CPO apartments (families with children), ... ...from the beach (couples) and the newly aquired Hotel Oura which is just a few minutes' walk from the beach and I undersdand is aimed more the young clubbers. There is also 'S' block which is where we own which is just a very small block just outside the main complex and directly behind the beach. It may not appeal to everyone but we like it because the proportions are much bigger than the standard. This is my 1st choice hotel for Albufeira..... Advantages: Excellent Location, Clean, Good Food Disadvantages: No fridges in rooms This is my third time staying in Albufeira (March 2007). I have previously stayed at the Paraisio and Brisa Sol which are also four star hotels next door to the Vale Gale Cerra Alagoa. Out of all three hotels this is my first choice, followed by the paraisio. The staff in the hotel speak good english and service was very efficient. I was also give an upgrade to my room. I was put on 2nd floor and got moved to the 3rd floor in a newer room. (the ... ...so I would recommend you try to get one with at least the number 42 at the end i.e. 142,242,342,44) The hotel operate on a key card system as opposed to having to carry keys around. I also lost my key card and the staff did not charge me, nor seem unduly worried. The room itself was large with two twin beds pushed together, with sheets and a bedspread. It was very comfortable though and plenty of spare pillows and blankets if you got cold. the ... Nightlife on your doorstep Advantages: Close to all the amenities, bars. Disadvantages: Can get noisy, not suitable for families ...pool view room. The hotel decor is very Portugese and looking a bit tired....tiled floors, rustic colours, its what I would call an average standard 3 star hotel, Cleanliness was fine, you're sheets get changed every day, and towels every other and rooms cleaned daily. I would also avoid booking half board, have your breakfast there (which is a combination of hot and cold) and go out to eat at night, there's not much going on in the hotel anyway ... ...I would probably recommend this hotel to young couples who enjoy the nightlife as its right on yoru doorstep, if you want a quiet holiday its not for you to be honest during high season, low season the bars area obviously a lot quieter so would not affect your sleep so much! Vila Gale (Tavira) Review Advantages: near beach Disadvantages: to hot and u have to catch a boat I liked Albacora because of the area where it's situated, U get a nice breeze from the sea... There's allways Tavira half mile, it's a very quit, very good for relaxing in the sun and have a few cold drinks, looks like we going back in time!!... because there's remains of an old civilization near by. The all area tell Us a bit about the old fishing tradition.
