I went to Algeria two years ago and it was the best experience ever. It is situated in the north-western part of the African continent, near the Mediterranean Sea. The scenery consists of a beautiful sandy desert called the Sahara, which is long the Mediterranean Sea. It is the most beautiful sight you will ever see.
I went on a big tour around the Atlas Mountains where the sights are unbelievable to say the lease. Where the mountains divide Algeria into three regions. First of all is The Tell, which is Arabic for “hill” and is so beautiful it lies along the Mediterranean. The main cities are located in the Tell such as Algiers and Oran. Algiers is a modern city with a harbour and all around it is French architecture, which looks lovely.
Secondary, the High Plateu, which is south of the Tell and north of the Sahara. Here there are lovely salt lakes. However, when I was there the water started to dry up.
Thirdly, the Sahara, which is Arabic for “desert”. It forms the largest part of Algeria and is mainly a rocky plateau and giant areas of sand dunes called ergs. When I go next time to Algeria I want to come and it rain because streams flow through the valleys and was told it was called wadis. Oases are scattered throughout the beautiful desert even if I did not see one. I would like to have seen one but maybe next time. It is areas of greenery that are watered by springs and wells.
I cannot wait to back to Algeria next year because it is so beautiful and the people are so friendly and helpful. However, there was one main problem without our guild me and my family would not able to understand them because none of them spoke English just French, which I only know a little bit and also we came to this small village where the people also spoke Arabic.
I believe Algeria to be one of the best holidays I have ever been on. It has something for everybody, even my Nan and she is very hard to please.
I'd also love to go to Algeria one day, so please let me know if you ever write any more about your trip there ;@P

Why are all Nan's so hard to please!! I've always fancied going there ~ maybe I should look into it for this summer, rather than the usual party resorts I frequent! c X

It was interesting as not a place I've been to but I think everyone would have liked to hear more details about it. Mel
