Playa de San Juan - An excellent hotel

Advantages: Friendly staff, lovely pool, clean room
Disadvantages: Dynamic currency conversion on our room costs paid by debit card

We chose to visit the Holiday Inn Alicante Playa de San Juan for a week in July after having three very pleasant stays in Express by Holiday Inns in the UK. We were not sure what to expect in terms of quality, however it was probably one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed in. The windows had a very thick curtain which completely blocked all light – perfect for a lie-in on a sunny morning! A Great Place for a Sunshine Break in a Gorgeous Spanish Town

Advantages: 3 Swimming Pools, Lovely Spa, Family and Couple Friendly, Great Food
Disadvantages: Food is pricey, beach is stoney, a bit of a trek from Alicante Airport

Middle of nowhere

Advantages: well maintained attractive hotel
Disadvantages: hard to get anywhere

Castilla Hotel Alicante Playa San Juan

Advantages: close to the beach
Disadvantages: service poor.

Cheap and comfortable

Advantages: Local to town centre and cheap
Disadvantages: Noisy if on road side of hotel / thin walls

I went to this hotel in February for a long weekend with my partner and some other family members. The hotel is situated in a side street called Calle Ramon Gallud which is not too far from the sea and the main marina/promenade.
