Satisfactory stay

Advantages: Nice little perks for the price
Disadvantages: Smells sometimes, bad drains Me thinks

I usually stay at the Spa Porta Maris, but a meeting there filled all the rooms, so we went to the ABBA. The hotel is still undergoing renovations, so there is construction noise during working hours. The only food at this time is the breakfast serving. I had an interior room with windows to an airspace. The room was as shown on the Internet photos. A sofa and small table in one alcove, a bar with no seating, twin beds, a flat screen tv, a long ...
...The a/c worked fine, but it blew straight at the chair/desk and one of the beds, so I switched beds after the first night and moved the chair as much as possible while working at the desk. Cabled internet access is included in the room rate, so that is a plus. Bathroom was crowded with maybe 18 inches between fronts of toilet and bidet to step into tub/shower with plexiglass wall. Not a problem showering without flooding the room. Lighting in bath ...

A Great Place for a Sunshine Break in a Gorgeous Spanish Town

Advantages: 3 Swimming Pools, Lovely Spa, Family and Couple Friendly, Great Food
Disadvantages: Food is pricey, beach is stoney, a bit of a trek from Alicante Airport

...6 night break at the SH Villa Gadea. We were looking for a hotel in Altea/Calpe for a sunshine break at the beginning of September ’09. We couldn’t get into our first choice hotel further along the coast and we were a little nervous about this one as there aren’t many reviews on it. We flew from Manchester with BMI Baby – flight is less that 3 hours. The hotel is 60km from Alicante airport and getting there is not easy via public transport so either ...
...bet. We opted for a taxi and it cost around 80 euros. On arrival at the hotel (around 4pm ish), we were checked in by the staff at the front desk. Not the quickest and most efficient service I have ever experienced but non the less, they were all polite, spoke good English and a young lad took our bags up to our room. We were more than pleased with the room, as we had been upgraded to a Superior Room on the first floor (room 1110). We had a fabulous ...

Cheap and comfortable

Advantages: Local to town centre and cheap
Disadvantages: Noisy if on road side of hotel / thin walls

I went to this hotel in February for a long weekend with my partner and some other family members. The hotel is situated in a side street called Calle Ramon Gallud which is not too far from the sea and the main marina/promenade. It was however on a fairly busy road which would probably be even busier in the summer. The room that we were in faced out on to the road and on the first morning the bin men came at around 3am which woke me up. I also noticed ...
...and the entertainment in the hotel in the evening was different. It appeared as though it might have been a local singles club, but we could not understand the language and this may have been only through the winter months Drinks were expensive in the hotel but very generous with the quantity of the spirits. There is an underground car park which was excellent as it was locked and safe but there was a charge for this. On the whole the hotel was ...

Mr Hill

Advantages: Rooms, location overall experience
Disadvantages: Food, recreation, killjoy lifeguard!

We stayed at the Marriott Denia for 10 days towards the end of July 07. There were 4 in our party 2 adults and 2 boys (11 and 9 yrs old). If you have every stayed at the Son Antem Marriott in Majorca, you will be disappointed, as it is nowhere near as good! Having said that, we still had a fantastic time. I think it's best to point out the good and bad points. All of the faults could be rectified very easily. Firstly, the service is the normal high ...
...of the horrible female lifeguard, she really is a nightmare. And / or the Marriott Denia should make their minds up whether they want to be a family resort or cater for more 'well to do' adults / couples only. As it is the resort doesn't really satisfy either...... ...

Playa de San Juan - An excellent hotel

Advantages: Friendly staff, lovely pool, clean room
Disadvantages: Dynamic currency conversion on our room costs paid by debit card

We chose to visit the Holiday Inn Alicante Playa de San Juan for a week in July after having three very pleasant stays in Express by Holiday Inns in the UK. We were not sure what to expect in terms of quality, however it was probably one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed in. The cost was €94 per night for an en suite room with king size bed and an “almost double” sofa bed. The room was on the third floor of the hotel and had a view of ...
...beds, the bed at the Holiday Inn was very comfortable and actually allowed you to have a full night's sleep! The windows had a very thick curtain which completely blocked all light – perfect for a lie-in on a sunny morning! A mini-bar was present, although this seemed quite expensive compared to the vending machines in the tennis court area (e.g. €1.90 for a can of soft drink in the mini-bar, €1.00 for the same item in the vending machine). The bathroom ...
