With simply pathetic excuses for everything, I would avoid this airline like the plague!
My last flight with them was the most emotional, I had 3 flights to catch on the same day, all with Alitalia, my destination, Minsk, Belarus.
All 3 flights had the same "meal", a term used in the loosest of forms.
A sort of Cottage cheese and fungus roll, with a small glass of water, sounds delightful doesnt it, well this is all I ate for the day.
The staff leave a lot to be desired for, some air steward with the largest hair style in the world, and crumbs in his beared, insisted on making his prescence known to me as often as possible, and continuously kept stopping and rubbing his leg on my arm as he passed my seat, as if there wasnt enough room, and the flight stewardess who thought she was on a cat walk, but really should have had a slap, and reminded she was on a budget airline.
The Sopwith Camel I was flying on (I think a 747) was quite decrepid, obviously it passed its safety checks, and Im no expert, but the monitors for the safety video nearly sent me into an epeleptic fit as they flickkered their time old safety message about how only the Virigin Mary will be listening as we plummet to our deaths over the Alps.
The seat next to me was heavily stained, (Hence sitting next to the aisle for Alphonso to rub his thigh against me when he felt like) and to boot, just as I closed my eyes to try and sleep this nightmare off, a little door above my head popped down, revealing a set of 3 oxygen masks.
After putting one on, I looked around, to note, I was the only person who has such masks available to me, and everyone else was deadly calm.
The ground staff were rude, the flight was late, each time by 40 mins, and the last flight by 6 hours, and I simply cant take any more.
I have had better flights from third world country operators!
Avoid at all costs!

Alitalia are consistently one of the cheaper airlines for long haul destinations. The food is adequate, safety is up to standard, and the air stewards are individuals. Checking in and out and the handling of luggage all meets normal standards of air travel.
If you are expecting something special, I would suggest you travel business class.

A more rounded review of Alitalia would be better received I think. Was this the only time you have travelled with them? If not what were the other times like? What was check-in like? Did your bags Make it? Airlines can’t always be to blame for being late as there are lots of factors that can make an aircraft late, were you told why it was late? Were all three aircraft in the same state? Were there no redeeming factors and if not did you complain to Alitalia and what response did you get if you did…
