...to the Pantheon, Santa Maria Maggiore that was quite breath taking and SanPietro in Vincoli for its statue of Moses. I have mentioned only a few there are many more places to visit however we easily ran out of time and energy
Eating in Rome
To be honest I found the food a slight disappointment in Rome. Normally I would take the time to hunt out recommended restaurants however I found with the children it was a case of eating when the need arose and they were not very patient when it came to reading multiple menu boards. As a result we tended to find ourselves in tourist locations and the quality of some of the meals was mixed.
One recommendation I would make is Paris as a great place to sample Roman - Jewish cuisine, we had a lovely meal and they were very child friendly. If you are unable to get in your can always go next door to San Calisto...

Advantages: Beautiful city.Wonderful architecture and monuments Disadvantages: So much to see and do. Expensive
...There is so much to see and do in Rome that knowing where to start becomes something of a real Roman dilemma. In this fascinating city you can stumble across history at every step and major attractions are so many and so widely dispersed that it is not possible to see them all, if you are on a short visit. It is best to focus your attention on a limited aspect - say the prime attractions in the Vatican, Archaeological Rome and Monumental Rome - and allow at least a day for each. If you have time to spare after that a trip to the leafy areas of northern Rome such as the Villa Borghese, the largest park in Rome, is an interesting foray, as would be a brief visit to the spa town of Fiuggi, about one hour's journey from the city centre.
The Vatican area across the Tiber, directly west of downtown Rome, is reached by subway A line, get...

Advantages: It is one of the biggest dome in the world Disadvantages: pictures of aggressivity and nudeness, and dead popes all around
...Amazing experience that you will never forget. I have been to Rome in September 2006 and it is still alive in my remembrance. I was caught by the huge interior of St Peter's. I could never before imagine something so large and spacious. And such a place where sooo many people come just in order to experience this attraction...
It is said that 60.000 people can fit in the dome and its tract has 15.000 quadratic meter.
While entering, my eyes were caught by the art on the walls and on the ceiling that were a bit exaggerated and sometimes kitschy. Words are not enough to describe how horrified I was. I would wish to everybody to experience it once in real to know what is catholicism about. - and maybe to be horrified...
It was interesting for me to get know that on the ground is marked with length of the structures of other huge domes...

We bought this before a recent weekend away in Rome (ok, I confess, we went to watch the rugby!) As we thought it would be nice to know a little about what we were looking at and where we were.
I spent the delay at the airport and the flight checking... more
