...private. And I liked looking in the gardens and seeing the tropical birds and the monkeys roaming about.
Overall the hotel was in lovely grounds and had great facilities including tennis, swimming pools, lovely eating areas, and gardens which lead on to the beautiful beach. The food was great with lots of choice.
In addition to all of this there are two other hotels a short walk up the beach. If you stay at Safari Beach Hotel you can also make use of the facilities (including food) at these two other hotels (Jardini and AfricanaSeaLodge).
Safari Beach Hotel is situated south of Mombasa. If you do not stay south of Mombasa, I would definately recommend you take a trip down there just for the ferry experience. You have to take a ferry to reach the coastal area south of mombasa. You will take this ride with the locals...

Advantages: Good beach nearby with relatively hassel free vendors. Pick up point for Fort Jesus Light and Sound Show Disadvantages: Dated interiors and 3* rooms could be improved
...Severin is a pleasant hotel that is mostly occupied by either Italians, germans or Isreali's but a few British Holiday makers stay. The facilities are clean and the staff are excellent. As with all Kenyans, once you get to know them, they are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean, with showers and mosquito nets. The food could be better considering what you can pay and the wine selection is not great (lots of south african KMV - not the exported varieties of S. African wines).
Hotel has internet connections and a very friendly service area for guests. Pool is small but kept clean and nicely lit at night so that you can enjoy a drink by it under the makuti roof bar.
Severin in a local pick-up point for the EXCELLENT Fort Jesus Light and Sound show - if there are three things you have to do in Mombasa - this is one of them (the...

Advantages: excellent Disadvantages: you have to come back
...The beaches in Mombasa are absolutely wonderful, bright blue seas, clean sand, it’s just a marvel to look at. To stroll at night time wow that was a moment to be savoured.
It’s so easy and relaxing that the busy roads of the cities seem miles away.
Mombasa itself is a wonderful place, quiet but still lively enough not to get bored. You can go swimming with dolphins and watch the shows if you like.
It is the chief port in Kenya, you can get direct flights from Heathrow or Manchester. If you are lucky enough you may be able to afford to stay in the luxurious Mombasa Serena Hotel.
If you go to Kenya, you’ll have to go to Mombasa, a really good tourist attraction and a place to let our hair down and relax....

####Gadzooks it's Marvel!
I'd be astounded and a little disturbed if anyone in 2007 had never heard of Marvel. Marvel Comics founded way back in 1939 has been providing tales of Super heroism in a wide range of forms and format ever since.
