I was one of the Village People!

Advantages: Family friendly, All Inclusive, Good amenities
Disadvantages: Location on island, rather expensive (but worth it)

I stayed at the Almond Beach Village (ABV) from 15 October 2007 for two weeks. I don't quite understand what all the fuss is about as I absolutely enjoyed my stay there.

I have read reports that ABV is not a 4 star resort, but you have to remember that you are in a Caribbean country so you will not have the same 4 star quality there as you would in the UK. Isn't that just plain common sense? The staff were great and we made some really ...
...bus to ABV's sister site, Almond Beach Spa - which is for adults only. We didn't visit Almond Beach Spa but we had feedback that it wasn't as nice as ABV.

There is live entertainment most nights and would definitely recommend their Manager's cocktail night (Tuesday) and their Beach BBQ (I think Wednesday). There is also entertainment in Horizon, which is ok most nights but I can get a little cheesy as they tend to sing the same songs.

Advantages: Beach, Food and Drink, Water sports
Disadvantages: Rooms, Pool table, Football machine

The grounds are beautifully laid out, heavily planted with large trees, lots of shrubbery and well kept gardens around the residences and the pools. Well-lit patio stone pathways wind through the grounds to connect all the buildings. The rooms are not luxurious, but spacious and comfortable. Specify a ground floor ocean front room if you plan to be back and forth a lot to the beach with kids. Otherwise, you may be climbing stairs to the upper floors. ...
...complain about the variety of the food at this resort, simply, is beyond me. There are four full service restaurants and a selection of four or five entrees, appetizers and desserts on each menu - flying fish, local vegetables, lots of fruit. I didn't eat a single burger or french fry all week. We had no meals outside apart from the sandwich picnics they packed for us. There wasn't much to do during the day - and especially during the night. The ...

Great for young families

Advantages: Great for Infants, great facilities
Disadvantages: Rooms

I chose the Almond Beach Village as I wanted to find somewhere to go that would be perfect for my 18 month old daughter. I have to say the place was very well set up for her. Value for Money The place is not cheap. The holiday for 7 nights including flights cost just over £2500.00 for three of us. Overall, I think it was just value, but you must make the most of the facilities. Quality of Rooms This was disapointing for me. The rooms were of ...
...layout. The walls were paper thin, and although it was entertaining listening to the couple in the room next to us argue every night, I would rather not have heard it!. Standard of Service The standard and quality of service was pretty good. The staff would do what they could for you, but not always with a smile. Quality of Food and Drink Excellent! The overall quality of the food was fantastic. The chioce was massive, whether you wanted burger ...
