I have been to Benidorm (situated in the province of Alicante in Costa Blanca) twice now with my boyfriend Paul. The first time I went was on 11th September 2001, so as you have perhaps guessed – many of the planes were delayed. Advantages: Sun, sea, sand and sangria Disadvantages: Benidorm is like Blackpool

Taxi'd out to the runway, and whaddya know - hit by a snow shower - taxi back to the terminal to de-ice the wings :-} We arrived in Alicante without further delay, and were allocated a hotel called Albir Gardens and ushered to the right coach quite efficiently, which took around 40 minutes to get to the hotel.
We found ourselves in a place called (not surprisingly) Albir, which was about 5 miles out of Benidorm, and about a 20 minute walk to the seafront. The area is quite pleasant, without the plethora of skyscrapers as found in Benidorm - the hotel itself only about 2 storeys high, with some rooms in the main building above and around reception, but many in small blocks away from the main building, mainly around the pool area. Advantages: Great for everyone of any age Disadvantages: Quite noisy and does get large groups of party goers
...I have been holidaying in Benidorm since i was about the age of 5. Being born and brought up in a guest house in Blackpool, it is where all the landladys used to head for afetr the season finished. There was Large groups of hoteliers from the same street all heading for Benidorm.
It took the family and friends a long time before they actually talked my dad into going abroad, as he always opted for Jersey or bournmouth back in the 70's. I think one year the weather was so bad all week, that the year after he decided to try this up and comming Spanish town that a lot of the other guest house owners were ranting and raving about, but i remember him being reluctant.
I think it was the first night there that swayed his decission to take the family every year, as it was mid November, and he was sat outside a local bar in a short sleeved...
