...This is highly recomended in Liverpool restaurant guides several claim this is the best restaurant in Liverpool however we found the one in Lark Lane disappointing! We went for a romnatic meal and spent a total of £25 on a round trip taxi fare so we accordingly had high expectations of the place.
In general; service was poor, the food was somewhat average, the stair carpet was filthy and the toilets although clean were not in keeping with the style of the restaurant. There seemed to be lots of regular customers in the restaurant who perhaps got more attention than we did as new customers.
The best thing was the open log fire that we were able to sit next to....

...There are two L'Alouettes in Liverpool. One is outside the City Centre in Lark Lane and one is in the City right outside the Marriott. Surprisingly, they are very different but I'm going to write about the one in the City Centre.
The restaurant has an open and airy feel to it, which is assisted by the large glass façade on two sides and the thoroughly modern décor (beech, glass and stainless steel abound). There is a general pleasant atmosphere about the place and the staff are helpful and polite.

Tso's is best known for its buffet selection which is an 'eat as much as you like' affair. As such it does offer excellent value for money but the quality of the food is not all that good. That's not to say its poor because in all fairness it isn't, its just that its not good. The food is palatable but then for the circa £7 that's about all you could expect.
Tso's is right by the Marriott (ex Swallow) Hotel and is situated above the fantastic L'alouette French Restaurant and within 100 yards of the brilliant La Tasca Tapas Bar. Don't walk into Tso's by mistake thinking that it must by a fine restaurant on account of the company it keeps.
The décor is tacky and dingy with the most amazing Chinese print plastic...

Postmodernism, eh? It's a funny old bag of fish. Even the holier-than-thou critics don't quite seem to know what it's all about. They argue whether it's
a) a revolt against modernism,
b) a progression of modernism,
c) both of these and more
or d) more
