There are a few other areas but they only have residential accommodation. **Main Town** (otherwise known as Quartier des Jeux) This is a lovely area to stay in as it’s close to everything... with the exception of the slopes! There’s a wide range of hotels, chalets and apartments. Most tour operators offer accommodation in L'Ours Blanc Apartments and the Royal L’Ours hotel and these are situated right in centre de ville. Shops – Shop wise Alpe d’Huez boasts many, many fashion boutiques... although some of the French fashion leaves a little to be desired (one shop in particular earned the nickname of “The Blind Tailors” on my last visit). ...A first time traveller to Kota Kinabalu need not be afraid of not finding good accomodation. Kota Kinabalu has a very good range of suitable hotels for both the tourist and business traveller. The Shangri-la Tanjung Aru has long been established as a popular beach front resort hotel which is located approximately 20 minutes from the centre of the city. It has a nice relaxed atmosphere and a very good buffet breakfast spread which even includes japanese noodles and sushi. Prices are relatively high but promotional offers during non peak seasons can be very good. A newer and undoubtably my favourite hotel is the Sutera Harbour Hotel, located next to Magellan and the Royal Yacht Club. ...attraction called the Wet Republic Ultra Pool which is the first ever ultra pool in Las Vegas. Basically it is being marketed as an entertainment venue where DJ's play music and famous people entertain you while you sit back in cool chaise loungers, daybeds and sip cocktails. The hotel is home to a host of entertainment based options. The Cirque du Soleil show KA is performed at the MGM and I believe tickets start around $60. Of course there are lots of gambling options available. On the Sunday night we found a $5 per hand Black Jack table but most of the time the tables started at $10 per hand. We found the staff at the tables very helpful unlike some of the casinos I have been to.
