St Anton

Advantages: Beautiful scenery, Clean Air, Superb Excursions, Warm and Friendly Folk
Disadvantages: can be expensive to the British Pocket

Just at the foot of the Arleberg pass, and in the Arleberg is St Anton am Arleberg it is around a 20 mins drive from Landeck and around an Hour by motorway from Innsbruck with major international and ntional rail links St Anton is one of the more easily accessible places to get to in the Austrian Tirol particularly if you do not have a car, if you have plenty of money then you could travel in style as the Venice - Simplon Orient Express stops at St Anton railway Station in each direction, and if you arn't travelling on board why not pop up to the station where you can view the Orient Express when it stops for several minutes. St Anton one of the more popular Towns in The Tirol and is very popular destination amongst British Tour operators ( Self Drive, Coach and Air) despite being set in Mountains and also the town itself being ...

St Anton

Advantages: Lifts, Snow, Cartouche, Friendly, Hotel Rendlhof
Disadvantages: Piste grooming, wet lower down at Easter, weather on St Anotn, prices.

other areas were quiet, so avoid St Anton during the weekend. I visited St Anton at Easter, and by that time, despite heavy snowfall higher up, the snow had almost disappeared in the town, and the runs back to the village were very limited, and not recommended for beginners due to heavy conditions. This does limit the area as there are many runs back to the village, but the availability of runs higher up and the excellent lift system mean this is not too much of a hardship. At the end of the holiday there was nothing in the village, but 460 cms at the top - so Easter skiing is no problem. There is also cross country skiing available at St Christoph - 40 kilometres of it. The Rendl (4,278 - 7,896 feet) Nicknamed 'Rendl Beach' because of the far greater amount of sun this side of the valley gets, for reasons unknown to me. It was ...

Review of St Anton am Arlberg

Ski in St Anton - you'll love it

Advantages: Huge ski area - friendly locals - easy to get to
Disadvantages: None really

Just got back from St Anton (New Year 2006 - 07) and what a great place to visit. Skiing: Runs are generally for the intermediate and expert skier although there are beginners runs in a few places and a very good ski school. Your electronic lift pass covers all of St Anton plus the nearby resorts of St Christoph, Lech and Zurs. To get to Lech and Zurs you can either get the bus from St Anton or ski to St Christoph and get it from there. If you have never skied a red or a black, this is the resort to 'give it a go' as there are several 'gentler' hard runs worthy of a try. Resort: I stayed in Nesserein which is at the end of St Anton High St and a little quieter. It is a 3 minute walk from a gondola lift and only a 10 minute walk from the main shopping area (which is mosly pedestrianised). Loads of bars and restaurants ...
