Advantages: great tourist spot, good shops, lots of attractions
Disadvantages: no cinema, bownling alley or teenagers area

...i live in Lichfield and have lived here all my life, its a pleasant place to live with many tourist attractions. Some good shops and places to eat and drink. Lichfield is situated in the centre of England near small cities such as Tamworth, Sutton and the closest big city is Birmingham. Birmingham is around a half an hour car journey away from Lichfield. Also you could catch a train to get to Birmingham from one of two stations in Lichfield, (Trent Valley and City). Lichfield city centre is a nice area with many shops for all ages, shops for kids like Woolworths, early learning centre, WHSmiths. Shops for sports like JD, Alpha sports, gilesports . Shops for girls like Claire's, new look. There are many places to eat as well including a McDonalds and subway and plenty of cafes. there are a cast majority of take-aways including Chinese... Disadvantages: They sell finanace???

...some good 3* half board hotels for around £140pp which I thought was a real bargain. £20 a night for half board, good location, air con and nice pool cant be bad. Alpha rooms claims to have over 19,000 hotels available throughout Europe, North America and Australasia. They are based in Sheffield but conduct most of their business online. Their online booking service can be accessed 24 hours a day 7 days a week and all the details can be dealt with online but if you prefer to speak to a human you can ring and book over the telephone everyday except for Sunday. ACCOMMODATION Alpha rooms sell all types of accommodation from motels, caravans and chalets to luxurious 5* hotels. You just provide the date and country you are visiting and they will be able to find you accommodation from £4pppn (hopefully) if you are looking for late availability... Read review

Advantages: Great location

...I just got back from Kyoto and I stayed one night in Hotel Alpha Kyoto. My Japanese friend booked this hotel for me from a japanese discount website and it costs us 9450 Yen for two people (which is about £45). This is considered an expensive rate for this hotel because if you stay during off-peak season, you can even get a room for two without breakfast for 7000 Yen. However, I stayed here during Obon festival (peak peak period). I have checked the hotel website and the price is almost the same so that means you can book directly with the hotel to get discounted rate. Location: Only 1 minute away from Kyotoshiyakushomae Station (this is on the subway Tozai line) or 3 minutes away from Keihan Sanjo station. If you are coming from Osaka and you did not take the shinkansen or JR train, you are definitely on Keihan line that takes you... Read review
