Advantages: Lovely staff, 2 swimming pools, free gym, great evening food and close to both shops and beach. Disadvantages: Basic furniture, noisy air-conditioning units, poor breakfasts and quite busy area.
...Desperate for a warm holiday, booking last minute and needing a bargain - my partner and I settled for a B&B deal at the Kamat complex in Calangute.
Neither of us had been to India before and to be honest we expected the worst of our hotel - but from the moment our maniac taxi driver set us down outside, we loved it. It's not a hotel I would recommend unreservedly (many of the things that we found endearing, might well drive someone of different sensibilities quite mad).
If your idea of the perfect hotel is something secreted away from the locals, where you can while away hours surrounded by European style furnishings with only the gentle hum of the aircon to disturb you - you'll be disappointed. (The aircon is there - just don't expect a gentle hum!)
And if you insist on a nice English fry-up in the morning you'll be REALLY...

Advantages: Cheap, Wonderful people, Good food, Plenty to See, Weather Disadvantages: Poverty, Mosquitoes
...A truely amazing place, certainly a must for anyone that wants great weather, excellent food and drink at super prices. My girlfriend and I went for my birthday in January this year and completely fell in love with the place. We stayed at a 2 star hotel the middle of Calangute which was clean and tidy if basic with a few mod cons, air-conditioning, tv and a fridge/mini-bar containing reasonably priced beers, water, soft drinks and breezers. ...to the catholicity of the people's beliefs as well as their mutual tolerance. Indeed, Goa is could be loved just for this rare quality which one feels imperceptibly on even a short visit.
Goa beaches:
Calangute is my favourite beach. It is the most famous and most crowded. if u love music,dance,chitter-chatter of countless people around you then calangute is the place for you. The main road which leads straight to the beach is full of Kashmiri-run handicraft boutiques and Tibetan stalls selling Himalayan curios and jewellery. The high quality textiles from Rajasthan, Gujarat and Karnataka can be bought from here.
Anjuna Beach: Anjuna is known for its infamous full moon parties and for its flea market.
Baga beach:Baga is actually an extension of Calangute beach but it is secluded enough to gain popularity among the topless sunbathers, though...
