Whenever friends of mine from the US or Canada are in Germany they ask me about one thing: THE DISNEY CASTLE Yes,you read right: Disney took the shape of Neuschwanstein and built the world famous Cinderella Castle after it.
So we go on an overnight trip to the south of Germany and visit Neuschwanstein. It is located in the Fussen area (the Alpine region) and a one hour drive from Munich. Up there you have to stand in line for about 1 hour and a half to get your entrance tickets for the castle.

The castle itself was built in the 19th century by King Louie of Bavaria. He was a little crazy about building castles and so there is another one of his castles just across the hill callen Neuenschwangau. He died being politicly dead by drwoning in the lake nearby. Neuschwanstein is the most famous castle in germany and it really is a beauty. Not only the outter view is great, but when you are inside you will learn how the king lived during that time. And see lots of old paintings, statues and carpets on the wall. Also old furniture as well. It is really great going there and seeing the castle, but better get there very early (around 8-9 a.m. at best),otherwise you will spent much more time in line, than inside. There are plenty of souvenier shops around the town and on the way up the hill, so everybody will be able to get his piece of this castle. I personally would never buy stuff like that, because they are made cheaply and are pretty expensive, but I am living in Germany and can go there whenever I please. My recommendation: Visit this castle at least once, when you are in germany.
Advantages: nature, some people ... look at the text ! Disadvantages: the rest of the people, sometimes it's nasty, cold, dirty... look at the text ;)
. But Germany has more for you!
In the winter you can go skiing for very cheap prices. I prefer the AlpinRegion - and, of course, its beer :)
But you won't get bored in the summer, because we have so many seas and other attractions. You can go for a walk in the mountains (alpinregion), visit all the great parcs, get some very fresh air at the rural area ...
Germany has attractions for everybody: no matter wheather you're young, old, traditional, modern .... you'll everything!
2. GERMANY FOR ME
In Bayreuth (that's a little town in the north of bavaria, perhaps you know it from the "Wagner- Festspiele"?) I've been born 20 years ago. In the summer I'm always happy to live here because the weather is very fine and I can go swimming in a little lake near my house. But in the winter, right now, I want to go away from here! It's cold ...

the term ´Fasnacht´ (also Fasnet/Fassenacht) is used; (from the net) "In the towns and villages of the Alpine areas of Austria, Southern Germany, the Black Forest, the area around Lake Constance, and in German-speaking France and Switzerland, wherever Alemannic tribes had settled, the Swabian-Alemannic Fasnacht is celebrated, a more pagan affair in which the old traditions of driving out winter have mingled with the pre-Lenten celebrations. The celebrants dress as spirits, demons, and witches wearing heavy wooden masks, intricately carved and handed down from generation to generation.
"Recurring over and over are representations of the ´Wise Fool´ with a smooth, serene, pale face, scary witches with grotesque features and animal masks of all kinds, as well as masks of mythological characters that figure in local lore and history, everyone in ...
