Opposite the Nikolaikirche is the perfect spot for taking a breather if you want to take a break on your stroll through Leipzig. The Old Nikolaischule is here too, so there even more reason to. It is neighbour to the Old Nikolaischule - by no means an educational establishment, but a place for feasting and is also known as the `Kulturcafe'. There's a wide range of meals and drinks and sometimes there's live music too, so there's plenty to do.
Advantages: cheapish, intriguing, some amazing buildings Disadvantages: it's still a bit grim

Leipzig is gradually being turned into a centre for conferences, and consequently the city has a pristine new airport much underused at the moment. Transfer into the city itself is a half hour bus ride, taking you through some of the rather bleak, flat landscape to the city itself. Advantages: class and comfort Disadvantages: slightly pricey for long stays
...You'll see the Westin in Leipzig even from the air! With its 27 floors it is one of the most imponent building in the city, conveniently located 5 minutes walk from the main train station and just 10 minutes walk from the city centre and the shopping area. It has recently gone through extensive renovations and the results are impressive. A massive lobby with lots of seats, 2 bars, friendly and extremely professional staff. The rooms are very comfortable and very very clean. The room service is excellent and the breakfast is absolutely impressive! There is a splendid bar on the 27th floor and the view is breath-taking. Excellent value for money if you wish to enjoy class and comfort to explore one of the most beautiful cities in Germany....
