Advantages: Posh hotel, it looks nice, but... Disadvantages: The staff
this house was converted in a hotel. So, because it used to be a house - the hotel is quite small. I know that doesn't affect anything, but it would of been nicer and better if it was bigger. Which they had just done, they built an extension on the hotel. It's a tunnel that leads to the old Caretakers Lodge, actually. But in that Caretakers Lodge is now part of the hotel. It contains 4 Neptune's, umm... I think Neptune is meant to be the REALLY posh rooms only millionaires can afford to sleep in.
So, don't tell anyone (even though I am writing this review to the public) I (with some cousins) had a quick peek in Neptune Two, it was an empty room with a harp in... I know it sounds really stupid. They must of been renovating it, but I'm sure a millionaire would not want to expect that Alton House Hotel has four new posh rooms, being music ...
Advantages: cheap and cheerful Disadvantages: not classy but perfectly adequate overnight, but bed not good
CHELSEA LODGEHOTEL 268 FULHAM ROAD LONDON SW10 9EW
10 min walk from Fulham Broadway tube, same to Earls Court
I stayed on Saturday 25 October 2008 because of its (reasonably) close proximity to Earls Court where I was attending an exhibition.
There was another similar rated hotel behind the underground station but it was reported to be very noisy and I thought a 10 minute walk from hotel to destination would be refreshing, which it was.
This hotel is on a busy main road on the corner of a junction, but inside the big old building you were not really aware of this. I think the hotel just had about 14 rooms in total, so not a busy place.
The hotel receptionist was very pleasant and helpful and efficient. The room was clean and bright, and although I booked a single, they were all occupied and I was given a double ...
Advantages: Good fun hotel, good service and decent rooms Disadvantages: Poor food
I've stayed at the Splash Landings Hotel in the Alton Towers park a couple of times now, and each time have had an enjoyable stay. The hotel is not without some flaws but overall my experiences have been good.
Firstly I will say I get the rooms in the hotel cheap through my staff discount, and pay £80 a night for 2 people to go bed and breakfast. This is good value to me as the convenience of being near the park and the early ride time makes it well worth the money. However, I'm not sure I would ever pay the full rather extotionate rate they charge without the discount, which is over £200 per room per night.
So, the hotel itself. First impressions were good - the reception area is massive and the Caribbean theme is fun. The check-in service is efficient and although there is often a queue I didn't wait long. The staff are well ...
