Three girls and I am very particular about cleanliness but we found the hotel to be great, in the heart of the City, easily located for shopping, markets, bars and clubs. Our room was basic, but extremely clean and good size. We had a brilliant view of the market square, which had a funfair on for the octoberfest, this closed about 10.30 at night and was noisy until then. Not recommended for children due to the windows having no safety guards on them and sheer drops to the market below when open. Other than that, brilliant hotel. We were looked after really well by the staff and the breakfast was self service, with a selection of yummy fresh breads and croissants, jams, meats, cheeses, cold boiled eggs in shells?, yogurts, fruit and tea, coffee or fruit juice. Would definately recommend if you are looking for an adult break away. We'll be back there next October. The hotel cherry beer is a miss though, it tastes like alcoholic ribena, get the cherry beer at the festival it's absolutely delightful.
Advantages: Good Friendly Drivers, Fantastic Hotel, Value for Money Disadvantages: Really Long Journey
and croissants daily. (See my review for the Ambassadeur Hotel in Ostend). We were 3 girls having a weekend away, and it was worth every penny apart from the journey being so long. We also called at the Belgian Chocolate Factory and Calais Booze Cash & Carry on the way home, get your tobacco products in Ostend before you leave, as Calais is expensive. Ostend is a nice place to visit, small bars and millions of wonderful chocolate and cake shops. The beer festival is a short journey to Diksmuide, approx 25 mins. The beers are very strong so don't go mad, you buy tokens (1 token =1 beer) we spent 8 euros on tokens and was pickled. Everyone wears silly hats and some are in fancy dress, the festival is a MUST SEE event. Will definately be going again next year. ...
