I found the place fairly easily. As it's on a small shopping precinct, there is a big parking in front which is convenient. The outside was not very inviting, I had the feeling I was going to enter in a dodgy local pub. Once inside some of this feeling stayed a bit. Nothing dodgy about the place really, but when you enter the bar/reception area, it does look like a low end pub. Two out of the three times I've been there, the place was fairly empty and booking was not necessary, saying that, the third time we had to wait 45mn before we could get a table, so just in case it's worth giving them a call before showing up.
The restaurant it self is basic but clean, and although it doesn't look like most of the French restaurant in this country (posh) it did remind me the French Bistros you can find in the outskirt of French cities, specially with the 70's deco.
The Staff didn't look either like in other French restaurant, they looked like "scouser". Some might think it's an insult to call them like that but it's not. What I meant, is that they're a bunch of very friendly and unpretentious local blokes. Perhaps not what you would expect in a French restaurant, but personally I really enjoyed the layback atmosphere they created. It's a guess but I think the place can accommodate 50-70 person and kids and family are welcome. They also cater for wedding or other big occasions.
So now that you are at your table, you've been given the menu and the first surprise appears. The menu is extensive, with a choice between around 10 starters 10 main courses and just a bit less desserts. Nothing special so far, but on top of that you have a big black board on the wall full of specials. Then you have a look at the prices and what a good surprise to see that you can get a three course dinner for less than £15. They might have increased their price a bit since as I haven't been there for a year, but I can still guarantee that you won't be breaking your bank roll. And it becomes even cheaper when you see the courses arriving. From starter to dessert, the portion are very generous.
Now let's talk about the food. As starter I had a Soupe de poisson (fish soup), it's a speciality from the region where I'm from in France, so I was going to be ruthless on my opinion. Without even tasting it, I could tell that it was nothing like the "soupe de poisson" I know and after tasting it, I could confirm that it was indeed nothing like the real Soupe de Poisson from Marseille. But you know what? It was as good and perhaps even better. It was so rich in different kind of fishes and other seafood, all the right herbs and spices were used, I was pleasantly surprised. My only negative on this one, is that it was too much (and that's not like me to complain about quantity), it was suppose to be a starter but at the end of it, I felt as full as after a good main course. Don't worry, it didn't stop me to enjoy the main course, I've had plenty of practice, but for the one's with smaller stomach out there, specially women, you'll have to be strong enough to stay "Stop" and leave half of your starter, because the dishes don't get smaller… And the service is quite fast as well, for once I would have appreciated to wait half an hour between dishes to digest, but no, they were quite efficient.
My main course was a fillet steak, which in other restaurant could be described as small piece of very tender meat. Here you can ignore the small. It wasn't enormous, but for this quality of meat, you usually don't expect that much. And it was cook as I asked, rare (often when you ask rare in an English restaurant, you get what I call a medium) and came with fries and perfectly cooked vegetables. I did not order any dessert the first time, I was not ready for all that and even I couldn't handle a dessert. So a coffee and straight to bed. P.S.it's not a good idea to go there just before going dancing, unless rolling up on the floor suddenly become a popular way of dancing…
I think my bill that time, for me and my misses was around £45, which included a £14 bottle of wine.
Talking about wine, they don't have too many of them, but you can find some decent one and reasonably priced (£12-£14).
When I went back there with friends, at each occasion everybody was delighted with their meal. One of them went back a few times and told me that they have some great offer at lunch time, worth going if you work in the area. I can not talk about the different dishes, as, a part from the fish soupe, I always went for the specials which change all the time. But I will confidently say that all is good, the meat is tender, the fish is fresh and there is plenty of options for the vegetarians.
A let down though, was the toilets. Hopefully they have improved them since, but at the time it was like crossing a messy garage before arriving in a basic and not so clean toilet.
In resume, this is definitely a place to try. If you're not charmed by the friendliness of the staffs, if big portion doesn't do it for you, you still should go for the quality of their food. It is not your typical fancy French restaurant but it's definitely the kind of restaurant that would have a lot of success in France.

Best value package, according to hotel concierge. Unfortunately, it was fully booked well into the future! Its similar to the buffet package except that dinner is a Luau, complete with roasted pig on a fire pit and a royal court procession. Advantages: Inexpensive to get to from UK, fab scenery, great food and lots of sunshine! Disadvantages: Crowded beach and limited amenities in resort
holiday makers. The beach is small and very pretty, if a bit crowded, but unfortunately rater spoilt by the two huge 5* hotels situated behind it. There is a rather neat little bar constructed on a rock in the middle of the bay, reached via a rather rickety old wooden bridge. It is only open during the day, probably as a way of avoiding the risk of anyone falling into the sea after one too many sangrias!
There are several good restaurants in the resort. Our favourite was the Petit Ambassador - it is perhaps a little more expensive because of its location (right on the beach) but it served great food and had a very romantic atmosphere after sunset when they lit up eastern style lanterns and torches which were placed in the sand.
