Advantages: Very exciting, rich and entertaining city
Disadvantages: Can get expensive

...which forms a big arrow shape. North Dallas is the more upmarket side of town, while south Dallas is covered by a ‘dry area’ law which tells you enough about the area. No alcoholic drinks can be sold there. This is an area best avoided really. I played golf down there once, and will never forget walking into a McDonalds. It was just like walking into a Wild West bar, everyone went silent. I just ordered and got the hell out of there as quickly as possible fearing a cowboy boot in my arse!!! In terms of scenery there isn’t much. It’s very flat, and basically semi-desert. I was surprised at how much greenery there was though, but that’s due to there being sprinklers on 24/7. Advantages: Beautiful. Large. Filled with things to do.

...and smelling cow patties. *The West End. Oh my God, this is my favorite part of Dallas! It's a tiny little strip off of West Commerce street that looks like a homeless shelter in the daytime. The buildings are old, with peeling paint and a few broken windows. There are winos staggering about all day long. It's truly a nightmare - that is, until the sun sets and the lights in these various bars and clubs come on. It is a very small section of Dallas, but packed with loud sounds. Take a walk down the street and you'll be bombarded with the sounds of live music - everything from jazz and latino to modern rock and even blues. It's the best place in Dallas to unwind - especially if you enjoy our local bands (The Toadies, The Nixons, Pantera, et cetera). *Several Concert Venues. ...West End Live Weekend My mum was coming up to London for the weekend so I decided to have a look in Time out to see if anything was going on in London that weekend, to my surprise and delight I discovered that a weekend event called West End Live was taking place. As many of you know I am trained in Performing Arts and enjoy going to see musicals so this was right up my street. When was it on? Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th June 2006, 12noon - 6.30pm both days Where was it on? London's Leicester Square What is it? West End Live is a celebration of West End theatre put on by Westminster Council. The whole event is free with live performances from west shows such as The Lion King, Footloose, Mama Mia and Chicago as well as Youth Music Theatre Groups, Dance Companies and much more.
