Advantages: Cheap, Atmospheric, Lively
Disadvantages: Nothing worth mentioning

Accomodation wise, Barcelona has a very large number of places to choose from ranging from 1 to 5 star hotels, bed and breakfast and youth hostels. Being a very large City there are literally hundreds of spare beds every night therefore it isn't neccesary to pre-book accomodation although personally I don't like to leave things as important as that until I get there, as well as the time this method consumes. The price of hotels vary in price, with the costlier hotels being located in the old town where most of the sights are. ...If you want a once-in-a-lifetime experience, stay at the Arts Hotel, Barcelona, preferably over Christmas. This new hotel, the tallest building in Spain, has terrific views either over the city or the Med (the latter rooms slightly more expensive) from elegant, tastefully furnished rooms and service which is second to none. One has to get used to the rather odd hours kept by people from this city, who go out to dinner at midnight, and sleep through the afternoon. We had an invitation from the hotel to free drinks and bites to eat to be held at 4 a.m. When I rang reception to ask if this meant 4 p.m. I was told “No, 4 a.m.”! The lobby area and dining rooms are very elegant –afternoon tea in one of them is a real experience. Just a word of warning – America-haters stay away, as many of the staff are trained in the U.S.A. as belied... Read review

...The Hotel Nunez is a pleasant hotel located within walking distance of Las Ramblas and the main centre of Barcelona's legendary nightlife. The Hotel is also located approximately 2 minutes from the nearest underground station which allows easy access to some of the further a field sites such as the Camp Nou and the Gaudi Cathedral. This also makes it possible to use the train to and from the airport for added convenience. The Hotel itself was clean and the staff were pleasant. It was also possible to access the internet from the hotel lobby at no extra charge. The Hotel provides good value for money at around €30 per night for a twin room, and the rooms are a reasonable size and pleasantly decorated. Overall the Hotel is ideal for groups planning a weekend trip to Barcelona looking to find good accomodation, close to the city centre... Read review
