On my travels again, where does the seasoned traveller stay when he goes to work in Virginia in the good old U.S of A? For this review, I'll put the pricing in US Dollars. The exchange rate I got at the airport was $1.73 to the £ *** 2/11/06 *** I have just come back from staying here again, there are a few slight changes, so they are embedded in the text of this review, highlighted with the @ sign. @@ The Exchange rate used in 2006 is $1.83 @@ ** Where is it ** The Holiday Inn Dulles International Airport is actually about 4 miles from the airport, situated on highway 28, there is a courtesy bus to and from the hotel, but I always get a rental car. Review of Holiday Inn (Dulles Internation Airport, Washington DC)

Carmel Resort Inn- Here's one punk that got lucky!

Advantages: The location- best value for money in this area
Disadvantages: Probably not for the five star tourist.

I have to say that when we first started planning our Californian trip, Carmel was one of the hardest places to find reasonably priced accommodation, unless you're prepared to sleep in a tent, and I don't do tents. So when we pitched up here I was pleasantly surprised. All the rooms are cabin-style and the overall layout is quite spacious with each two 'cabins' sharing a little decked verandah out front. The inside is rustic too with a small fireplace, fridge, and coffee maker and although you might find the carpets and some of the paintwork looking a little tired, I thought it added to the character. The Resort Inn is well located and just a stone's throw from Ocean Boulevard which is at the heart of Carmel. Carmel is where you should stay if you want to travel down the beautiful 17 Mile Drive. Review of Best Value Carmel Resort Inn, Carmel

Premier Inn Gatwick - Exceptional value for money, comfy & clean!

Advantages: Excellent value for money, very comfortable, clean and tasty food.
Disadvantages: A bus ride away from the North terminal

I have flown from Gatwick airport early in the morning on several occasions and have always found it much easier to stay the night before and leisurely wander over to the North Terminal in the morning rather than try and make my way down in the car or on the train. I have stayed at both the Sofitel at Gatwick and the Premier Inn therefore, will review both however please be aware this is for the Premier Inn at Gatwick. I have stayed at the Premier Inn Gatwick a number of times and I must admit, it is exceptional value for money. Having travelled down by train each time, it does involve a hike on to the monorail and then catching a bus to take you round to the hotel. The bus was £2 per adult in September 2009 and can be caught outside the North Terminal. Alternatively, it is a very short taxi ride (approx 5 mins if that) and the cost ...
