Carmel Resort Inn- Here's one punk that got lucky!

Advantages: The location- best value for money in this area
Disadvantages: Probably not for the five star tourist.

I have to say that when we first started planning our Californian trip, Carmel was one of the hardest places to find reasonably priced accommodation, unless you're prepared to sleep in a tent, and I don't do tents. So when we pitched up here I was pleasantly surprised. All the rooms are cabin-style and the overall layout is quite spacious with each two 'cabins' sharing a little decked verandah out front. The inside is rustic too with a small fireplace, fridge, and coffee maker and although you might find the carpets and some of the paintwork looking a little tired, I thought it added to the character. The Resort Inn is well located and just a stone's throw from Ocean Boulevard which is at the heart of Carmel. Carmel is where you should stay if you want to travel down the beautiful 17 Mile Drive. A Holiday Inn America

Advantages: Comfortable, good facilities
Disadvantages: None for me

heat - great for drying the swimming costume. The heating has a timer which you can set it goes up to about an hour, but does get very hot! Also on the top is a basket with various shampoos and soaps in. The shower is in the bath, and has fairly standard controls. There are also a lot of big fluffy towels in the room. Moving back to the room, the bed is a very large bed, as can be seen in the picture. I found it to be really comfortable. Opposite the bed is the large TV. 30 odd channels of America - I don't think I saw one news item about anywhere other than America, and the American sector in Iraq! Most of the channels were pretty bad. There is the usual Pay per view channels, but I wasn't in most nights, so never bothered with the TV. Review of Holiday Inn (Dulles Internation Airport, Washington DC)

Graceland, the best part of Memphis.

Advantages: For an Elvis fan, it is the ultimate experience.
Disadvantages: It is not in the city.

. The first time I visited the house, both Len and I wanted to go. It was mid-morning and we bought a ticket for the house, the car museum, the planes, and the Elvis museum. There was a line for the shuttle bus, which took us across the road, to those wrought iron gates. White with the amazing Elvis outlined in black, equipped with guitar, and the black musical notes. We were given headsets and a cassette machine. This would be our guide for the tour. We would be able to switch it on and off as we came to each room. Crossing that road and entering the grounds of Graceland took my breathe away. I am a true fan of Elvis. One of my regrets in live, was that he never visited England.
