AWFUL PLACE. Terribly rude staff. Stay away.
Advantages: None Disadvantages: Unclean apartments. Disrespectful and rude staff. Overpriced.
The service at this place was some of the worst i've ever seen. The staff neglected to mention that the hallway doors lock from the inside, so when i left without a key I was trapped in the hallway for half an hour. After waiting for some time in a hot and poorly ventilated stairwell (as well as knocking on the only two doors available) I began banging on the walls to try to get someone's attention in the office next door. When the manager finally ... ...to get mad at me for making noise! He was exceedingly rude and pompous, saying that I should have waited even longer for the next person to come by, as if I didn't have anything better to do than sit in a stairwell on my vacation. I had no phone service(American phone), and no one coming back any time soon, so I had absolutely no other recourse in the situation than to call for help. The staff should have been apologetic since this was THEIR fault ...

Maybe I Am a City Girl After All
Advantages: fantastic location, good breakfast, friendly and helpful staff, comfy bed, some character Disadvantages: rooms could be bigger, a bit shabby, breakfast not included
We went to Amsterdam in mid February 2009 and as usual, attempted to book a room about two days before our departure. I left the task to DH for a change and I am glad I did because after seeing prices I probably would have broken down or ended up booking something twenty miles out of the city. As it was, we ended up in the very center. Price We arrived on a Saturday, and stayed until Wednesday. The rate varied from something in the region of ... ...pay for holiday accommodation, but Amsterdam *is* expensive, and it was our first (and children-free) trip away for over six months; and of course a lot of it was due to the dismal exchange rate just then - everything seemed extortionate. Building and Location This is a small hotel located over several floors with just a few rooms on each floor. The charge more for canal-view rooms, and we paid that extra on the first night, but stayed in the ...

Plant yourself in the Plantage!
Advantages: Excellent location, low price, comfortable rooms Disadvantages: First impression
...The cancellation policy for the hotel is 2 days before arrival, which I found was pretty fair. If you were to cancel after that time, they were obliged to charge you for the first nights stay only,
After typing the hotel name into Google, I was pleased to find that the hotel has its own website, www.hotelplantage.nl. Described as '3 Star quality for 2 star price', Hotel Plantage is located in the 'old' part of Amsterdam which was originally built ... ...nine rooms, they advertised the hotel being easily accessible to Central Station and the thriving Damsquare. The website provided pictures as to what the rooms look like and although not the best looking rooms in the world, it looked clean and inviting - plus it was cheap!
We decided to book the hotel and again this was done through the Laterooms booking system. After the booking, I sent an email to the Hotel Plantage with my booking details and ...

Studio 14 B&B is the friendliest experience ever.
Advantages: Close to attractions and night life Disadvantages: didn't have a kettle in room
This is the best place to stay, especially if you are going on a hen or stag weekend like my girls did. We had a laugh from the beginning of our stay and didn't want to leave. The staff are very friendly and up for a laugh too. The staff were willing to help with anything we asked for especially with the heavy bags. The hotel is very close to the main attractions and all transport. Al tho close to the attractions i was very surprised at how quiet ...

Stunning Hotel
Advantages: Modern room features. Excellent food and drink. Fantastic Service Disadvantages: Can't think of any!
...lot better standard than other renaissance hotels. It was modern and spacious with large lcd television, desk area and table with two comfy chairs. THe bathroom was also modern and well done out with an excellent range of complimentry toiletries. As part of the package we booked under we had access to the club lounge. I would recommend anybody to do this as it is fantastic. The club lounge is a room only open to those with a club lounge keycard and ... ...of the other guests. Not many guests come here mostly business men so is quiet and extremely quiet in the day. Club lounge benefits offers free soft drinks and coffee all day with continental breakfast and snacks through the day. Between 5.30pm and 9.30pm alcoholic drinks are also free which includes wine beer spirits anything you want and they also bring out more hot snacks. Free internet is provided and staff working in there are so friendly and ...
