Santorini is one of the most romantic places in the world. The sunset from Oia or Imerovigli is a sight not to be missed. The sun sets directly to the sea and bathes the whole landscape in colours ranging from blues, purples, reds and yellows, evoking the volcanic eruptions of the past. ...I have spent a week vacationing on Santorini. The reason why I have chosen Santorini over the other 1400 Greek Islands, was my profesor who goes there rugularly and is completely in love with it. All his describing of the island made me decide to go there.
Santorini is a small group of volcanic islands located in the Aegean Sea about 200 km south-east from the mainland of Greece. The Greek islands are devided into island groups and Santorini belongs into the island group of the Cyclades. It's spread on 73 sq km and has a population of about 13,600 people.

Advantages: cheap friendly accessible Disadvantages: bars dont close bad heads
...we went self catering last year at the end of may £101 each last minute best money spent on holiday yet,just as the season was beginning so it was very quite,which was great as perissa beach is where apart from the family holiday makers its a haven for backpackers the place though is fantastic,we drank in the local bars one of which had a pool table and only closed when the last person left,it wasnt busy but the atmosphere was great.
we hired a cheap for 2 days at a very cheap rate off a garage in town loads cheaper than through the rep driving on santorini was spectacular and you drive round the whole island in a few hours but there are lots of places to see.
santorini only gets expensive when you go to a place called IA at the north definately aimed at the us market but the views are magnificent.
