I visited Seville in May of this year accompanied by 80,000 Celtic fans. Apart from being awestruck by the magnitude of a UEFA Cup Final, I fell in love with this wonderful city.
We arrived from Madrid on the AVE mega-fast, clean and modern train. Just two hours to travel the 200+ miles from Spain's capital. Seville is also served by an airport and be accessed easily from Jerez and Faro airport in Portugal.
We made our way through maze of narrow cobblestone streets leading into quaint plazas, lively tapas bars and bodegas, and fantastic architectural monuments demonstrating the heavy Moorish influence of the past towards the magnificent cathedral with its majestic Giraldo tower. The cathedral is the third biggest in Europe with only ST Peter's (Rome) and St Paul’s (London) being larger. You can pay to enter the cathedral and it is well worth the €4 charge. Climb the tower and look over the ancient streets to see the city below. Quite a sight on this day as at least 5,000 Scots were gathered round the cathedral to party.
I spent one day wandering round Seville but it struck me as a charming city filled with character. There are plenty of parks to laze around in and old style cosmopolitan bistros that you can sit sampling fantastic tapas and watch the world go by. Certainly try the local drink of sangria. Quite different to the watered-down version we get here. This stuff is both tasty and potent so be warned to sip in the manner that Spaniards do.
Rich in the traditions of flamenco, bullfighting, colorful fiestas, and typical Andalusian cuisine, one can literally soak in the Spanish culture while visiting Seville
Celtic lost the game 2-1 to Porto but at least I fell in love with a place that I will certainly revisit (small concellation). When I return I still have the grand palaces and ancient architecture to visit. My evening was spent watching my team but I am told that the river Guadalquivir which runs through the city and provides an excellent spot for evening "paseos", riverfront dining and exciting nightlife.
Spain's most exuberant city. Make it your destination and be captivated by its unique atmosphere - stylish, confident, ancient, proud, yet also convivial, intimate and fun-loving.

Well, I think you missed most of the things that the city can offer. What a pity, because Seville has a lot of more places to visit appart from the incredible Catedral with its fantastic Torre de la Giralda, such as the Alcazar, the "plaza de España", the "torre del oro"... Hope you can visit the places you miss in your next trip with the celtic..! xx.

We propose some unforgettable holidays in "El Capistrano Villages", in Nerja, the privileged balcony of the Costa del Sol. "El Capistrano Villages" is, possibly, the most beautiful and exclusive Urbanisation on the Costa del Sol.
Advantages: Plenty to see and do around Jimena De La Frontera - not for kids though. Good roads Disadvantages: None that I can think of but maybe a lot depends on your accommodation

Advantages: Warm sun and snow in January and February. Price over others in Europe. Disadvantages: Lack of snow in April. Not enough ski area. Not testing skiing.
