Orvis Andros South Lodge - The Bahamas

A no frills fishing lodge in the Bahamas, South Andros Island is well known for its ... more

expansive bonefish flats and its fly fishing
traditions. Although the Andros Islands are the
largest group of islands in The Bahamas, the
population is very sparse and the handful of fish
camps, lodges and resorts play an important role
in the local economy.

Flamboyant Nassau - Bahamas

Advantages: Paradise Island
Disadvantages: Staying Too Long

? at Ardaska Gardens, Go horse riding on the beach early morning, Visit the caves in Lucayan National Park, once occupied by Indians but now home of nursing bats, Go to Paradise Island (4 miles long and ½ mile wide) with its 17 beaches and visit the magnificent Atlantis Hotel Aquarium http://atlantis.com/flash.aspx by either crossing the bridge or taking a ferry, Or a 25 minutes catamaran ride to Blue Lagoon Island (3 miles northeast of Paradise Island) www.dolphinencounters.com and swim with Bottlenose Dolphins; only snag here is you have to reserve months in advance). MOOSES GUIDE TO THE BAHAMAS

Advantages: The Beaches, the year round climate, the people
Disadvantages: Long flights often stopping at other islands, quite expensive to eat, not good for vegetarians

In July 2001, I went in search of THAT beach - you know the one – the white sands, crystal clear waters, palm trees, secluded – the one that appears in any brochure for the Caribbean. A few years ago I went in search for it in the Dominican Republic but came home disappointed. This time I struck lucky! Anyway before I rant on about the beaches I had better give you some background info! Basics --------- The Bahamas lie about 40 miles off the coast of Florida and consist of more than 750 islands – obviously most of these are tiny and uninhabited. The busiest island is that of New Providence, home to the capital; Nassau. I actually stayed on the island of Grand Bahama which is the second most popular destination in the Bahamas after Nassau. The flight from Gatwick direct to Freeport (the airport of the Grand ...

Review of General: Bahamas

Paradise Island Hotel Nassua, Bahamas

Advantages: fantastic place to go
Disadvantages: none

I was lucky enough to go to the Bahamas on holiday in April 2008. In our party there were 3 children and 3 adults. We arrived at the airport to be met by a limousine, we were driven to The Atlantis hotel on Paradise Island?wow what a place. We were able to have a good look round whilst in the Limo, the weather was beautiful and when we arrived at the Hotel, you could see why it was called Paradise!! The hotel was enormous; it had lots of different sections. There is the Royal Towers, Imperial club, Coral Towers, Beach Towers, The Cove Atlantis, The Reef Atlantis, Harbour side Resort, and Special. We stayed in the Coral towers. Our room was large with 2 double beds in. It had a full stocked bar, which was checked daily and re-stocked?..beware, very expensive! There was a large mirrored wardrobe and plenty of drawer space ...
