!
The room was very nice, but we were more interested in the beach, which was just a short walk over the road. The sand was hot so we quickly jumped into the sea, which was very refreshing and so clear! It was amazing.
The food that evening was fantastic, it was a buffet style, with starters of olives, feta cheese, salad, meats and then a choice for the main course, steak, pasta or fish, all very tasty, well it would be rude not try everything!
That evening we went for a walk into the old town of Alghero, although there was a bus, we thought we would walk off the calories. The walk was 45 minutes and I soon regretted wearing heels! But it was worth it once we got to the old town, it was like stepping back in time, and it was very busy. I had sex on the beach, the cocktail, at the Jamacan Inn, and it was the best I've ever had ...
Advantages: Close to Beach and Old Town. Disadvantages: Not great to look at from outside, but good inside.
This Hotel The ALMA d ALGHERO is just the place for a short stay in Alghero. Location is fine, within short stone throw of the Beach and close enough to the Old Town to walk your dinner off. (about 20 min slow stroll). The rooms are clean and bright and the showers large enough for even large people.
The staff are very friendly and welcoming.
Breakfast time there is a good range to choose from. Cerials, cheeses, meats breads, fruits, cakes and even a sausage heating machine.
Nice little touches like the large bowl of apples placed in reception for the guests.
We would certainly use this Hotel again.
Bar prices resonable 3 Euros for large Amereto/Ice at night.
There is a super market within 5 mins walk.
Free Car Parking also available.
The Airport is close to the town, there is a Bus service from the Airport to Centre of Town ...
Advantages: Amazing turquoise blue ocean, wonderful food, history, architecture GELATO! Disadvantages: Drivers have it in for pedestrians! Construction on the seafront
hawkers, selling clothes. They were interested in the Canadian accent, but not too much of a pest.
We stayed in Alghero, in the North West. Big intentions to explore the whole place but it had everything we wanted, so we just hung out there for 5 days. Other parts of the island all have their own special character, from the North East, where the Aga Khan developed a very expensive posh area, to the south where there is more shopping and bustle, and the interior where there are more sights to see.
But we enjoyed the sea and the walled town - you could sit along the top of the wall and toast the sunset, and if a glass of wine wasn't your cup of tea, the Gelato, ah the Gelato! I have had 'italian ice cream' in other places, but it is nothing as good as this! My favourite was fruit of the cactus (Sardinia is tropical but arid and a good ...
