...By its very nature, Air New Zealand has to serve only long routes, and its service is designed with the difficulties of extremely long flights in mind (for example, more than a day of flying to get from London to Auckland).
Their service to Auckland stops to refuel in Los Angeles, and take 12 hours. You get more leg room and more pampering from the staff than on the more conventional British / American carriers on this route, yet the price is often lower and some very good discounts on the official fares if you are lucky enough to be a first or business class traveller....

I like it! Review ofLos Angeles (California)by

Advantages: Lovely atmosphere Disadvantages: Long Flight
...This place is gorgeous! Sun, sand, sea, sangria and shrimps. A perfect holiday. Get a hotel by the sea and you will be able to have the nicest strolls and meals in America. The people are friendly, the air is clean, the weather is hot, the food is nice, the water is calm, the beaches are roomy, the hotels are lovely and the transport is great. You may have guessed that i liked this place. You can shop, swim, walk, tour, sightsee and more. If you have been dying to go to America i advise you go here , it is super. The only thing wrong is the flight there and back - 12 hours!...

...I regularly fly the London-Los Angeles route and have always found Air New Zealand to be the best value for money, the most reliable and certainly the most comfortable.
You have far more space in economy than any of the other major carriers, and as you are not stopping enroute it makes for a great trip too.. There's not the huge problem at check-in that you may have with British Airways or United Airlines, plus also the security risk is much lower too! Staff are the friendliest I've ever come across, and on top of all this the price is really good too... why fly with anyone else!!
The plus side of this routing is that they fly the double decker planes, which tend to have the best crew and food......
