Advantages: Central location Disadvantages: Small pool area
...This is a nice, comfortable 4 star hotel. It is very centrally located in the resort of Cala Galdana so if you like to people watch then get a sea view room and watch the world go by. In fact only get a seaview room because the rooms at the rear of the hotel are overlooked by a steep rock strewn cliff which casts a shadow all day.
The resort is set in a beautiful cove with a wide cresent-shaped beach. The water as a consequence is very warm and calm. The cove is flanked on each side by cliffs that can be climbed quite easily to get a great view of the resort below. If you carry on in either direction a 40 minute walk will get you to the next coves along this southern coast of the island.
The resort is quite small, has plenty of restaurants for all tastes and a very low-key night life. In fact the most popular evening entertainment...

Green & Great Review ofGreen Island, Green Island, Great Barrier Reefby
Looby5
Advantages: Good value, lots to see Disadvantages: Beach was a bit dissapointing
...reasonable $150AUD or about 62 quid. That included pick up from our apartment in PalmCove, lunch and all the activities I've mentioned. The stinger suit had a $6 deposit to cover cleaning charges.
The trip back was calm and we found our coach and were transported back to our accommodation almost immediately.
Conclusion
Green Island is a fantastic experience, perfect for a day trip. I'm not sure there would be enough going on to stay for a week although the resort hotel looked very nice, and the spa facilities look very good but it really is the only thing there other than what I mention above. There are four sailings a day to Cairns so going there would be an option but why not stay in one of Cairn's very good hotels and visit Green Island? That would be my preferred option anyway. I wholeheartedly recommend Green Island as a daytrip in it...

Advantages: Crystal clear warm water Disadvantages: Going Home
...I did my open water course in May 04. I was staying in the Fiesta Palladium grand resort and spa which had a dive shop in it's grounds. I decided to give it a try and signed up for the beginners course, just half a day from classroom to sea. The dive site its self was part of the mezo american reef which runs from cozumel down to honduras. the viz on my first dive was about 30m and the dive site itself (umberella reef) was absolutly spectacular. There were barrel sponges, sea fans, staghorn coral, all varieties and colours of soft coral, all at only 12m. We saw southern ray, baraccuda, trumpet fis, parrot fish, angel fish and many others. As it was my first dive it only lasted just over half an hour and I really loved every minute so I signed up for the full open water course. I did 4 more dives altogether, on Ruina Maya, Ruina...
