Affordable Oslo

Advantages: Free breakfast, Free wifi, Affordable
Disadvantages: Fire alarm, No tea making fac. in rooms

Norway is reputed as being one of the most expensive places to go in the world. Arriving at the Hotel Our flight got us in to Oslo at about 11am but we weren't supposed to check in to our hotel until 3pm. Although this might not sound like a long time, it is when it's minus 6 outside and you're dragging a big suitcase. Having previously looked up the route to the hotel on Google maps, we decided to set about finding it. It wasn't particularly easy to find the hotel as, although it was near the centre of town, it was hidden away down a back street and isn't near many other attractions. Its also right next to the Anker HOSTEL - so don't get confused and try and check into that by mistake! The hotel itself has a big Best Western sign and is pretty straightforward to get into once you've actually found it. The reception area ...

Norlandia Oslo Airport Hotel

Advantages: Breakfast was ok
Disadvantages: not close to the airport, small rooms, smelled funny, shower doors broken

I recently had to stay over night at Olso airport since our plane got in late at night and there were no flights to my final destination until the morning. We knew this in advance and had pre-booked a room via a discount hotel website. We chose the Norlandia hotel since it was called ?Norlandia Oslo Airport Hotel? and therefore thought it was a good choice since it was close to the airport. This was where my first gripe with the hotel came from.. once we had arrived we had to take a shuttle bus to get to the hotel, this cost us 60kr each one way (around £6) The airport is infact not so close to the hotel and took a 10 minute bus ride! In the morning we had to take the bus again, so all in all we spent about £24 getting to and from this ?Airport Hotel?. Once we got to the hotel, checking in was easy. All we had to do was hand them out ...

Review of Norlandia Oslo Airport Hotel, Oslo

It may be cheap, but it's not nasty!

Advantages: Cheap, lovely helpful staff, good free breakfast, easy tram access
Disadvantages: None that I could see, unless you're a pampered princess

My husband and I spent two nights in the Best Western Anker hotel in Oslo at the end of December 2006. We booked the hotel purely because it was the cheapest we could find at short notice (the hostels were all fully booked up). Oslo is a very expensive city, but we paid £115 altogether for two nights including breakfast, which was very reasonable indeed. The hotel is located a ten minute walk from the main bus/train station in Oslo, which makes it very convenient to get to. We got directions at the bus station and found it quite straightforward to find the hotel. The area is very multi-cultural, and we were probably the only white people on the street as we walked, so there was a great variety of little shops and cafes along the way. Because it was over the New Year holiday, many of these were closed, but I imagine that a person ...
