- The Semnoz, the Aravis are mountains. I find these both beautiful in winter as in summer. Yesterday it has snowed ; winter is here !!
- Albigny’s and Marquisats’ beach. Of course for the summer ! Many Annéciens and tourists spend their time on the beach, there is no sand but grass ! and the water could up to 25°C which is delicious...
+ after sports, you could want to visit the town. Annecy is divided in to parts, the old Annecy and the modern town. In the ancient one, cars are forbidden ! You must visit using your feet ;-) And all the sites to visit are in this part ! More, Annnecy is also called the "Little Venice" because of all its bridges over the Thiou. So, take your shoes and enjoy...
- Annecy Castle : it was first the house of the Geneva Counts, and now it’s a museum. It tooks four centuries to build it !
- The Visitation : it’s a basilica, neo-Byzantine architecture and erected in 1922. The basilica overhangs the town.
- The Island Palace : founded in the 12th century, it was first the administration center for the Geneva Counts, but also served as a prison. And as it was surrounded by the Thiou, a little river which flows from the lake, when we opened locks to make the water up and enter in the prison to drown prisoners... So cruel ! It is not used anymore.
- Old Annecy : there you can see the Sainte-Claire Gate, the Perriere Gate, the Island Palace, bridges over the Thiou and many others discoveries...
+ and if you have money enough, you could then dinner on a boat during a travel on the lake. The biggest and most beautiful of the boats is the “Libellule”, (“Dragonfly”) ; but if you don’t want to dinner, you could also take the “Cygne”, (“Swan”)...
I hope that it gives you the envy to discover Annecy...
